SVH News - May 2011 - A Message from Dr. Cox
Sent Thursday, May 12, 2011
It has been far too long since I have contributed to our quarterly
SVH Newsletter, and although I communicate daily with many of my
valued clients, allow me to take this opportunity to reach out to
all of you.
Spring has been an exciting time at SVH, bringing new faces and
welcoming back old ones. Our very own Dr. Wayne Smith has
graciously re-worked our hospital website. Who better than Dr.
Smith to collaborate with me in articulating the core values here
at SVH - Comfort, Care, and Compassion? Dr. Smith and I continue to
share another important vision - the quest for excellence in
customer service and patient care. It is my goal, and obligation
to each and every patient, at every visit, to deliver exceptional
service. As always, your feedback is important, and I encourage you
to email your comments to me.
There are other exciting changes underway this spring at SVH. I am
very pleased to welcome Dr. Kineret Aloni-Goldman to our team. I
know you will feel comfortable and confident in allowing any one of
us to care for your pets needs. Dr. Shawna McLaughlin, now the
mother of twins, a son and a daughter, is currently on maternity
leave and we look forward to her return next spring.
Becky Milton has rejoined our staff as our Practice Manager. Becky
was one of the first people I hired when I took over the practice
and I am very happy to have her back. Jen. Febel has moved on to a
position with a pharmaceutical company.
Your confidence in us is appreciated. As a token of my appreciation
for your ongoing referrals of your friends and family, I am pleased
to now be able to send you a loyalty gift card for every new client
that you refer, redeemable for any service (excluding grooming) at
our hospital!
I would like to thank many of my wonderful clients and friends for
offering me their condolences on the recent loss of my very own
beagle, Bailey. Although I often counsel and support my clients
when it's time to make that difficult decision with their own
beloved pet, it sure is difficult being on the other side of the
fence. There is a happy ending to this story however. Shortly
after Bailey passed, along came Penny - a sweet six year old
abandoned beagle. Needless to say, she has found her forever home
with Ashley and I.
We all know that April showers bring May flowers...and ticks,
mosquitoes and fleas! I hope our recent heartworm mailing has
reached all of our canine patients, and I would like to remind you
and your dog to visit us during the months of April and May to pick
up this season's heartworm/tick/flea/intestinal parasite prevention
medication, which needs to be started on June 1st. I recommend
taking advantage of our promotional 'heartworm wellness' blood test
package to ensure that your pet is healthy and happy. For more
information on heartworm disease and tick borne diseases, please
click on Pet Health Library.
Once again, I would like to thank all of our clients for being part
of the SVH family and allowing us to take care of your pet. I look
forward to seeing you soon!

It's Dr. Smith here. As I spent the past little while going through
the website, I was flooded with memories. That was particularly
true as I looked through the Memorial section and saw tributes to
pets that I was privileged to care for in days gone by. People
often ask me if I miss practice. My answer is always the same; I
miss the people and their pets but I don't miss the constant
pressure to be right.
In any case, I send my best wishes to all of you who once stood
across the exam room table from me. May the wind be always at your
back - and the sun shine warm upon your face as you prepare to
enjoy the summer.
