I HATE working out sore, tired, or fatigued. Missing
lifts fires me up.

Fortunately I've been working on a technique to make
sure I'm ready to go for the next lifting session.

Here it is:

Hey,

Last month I was honored by an editor at
Men's Health reaching out and asking my
opinions on Self Myofascial Release.

In the MH article I mentioned a technique I've
been working on with a local physical
therapist that has been working wonders!

It's simple, but will change your foam
rolling protocol for the better.

BUT FIRST, I wanted to share with you
the 2011 Synergy article that got the ball rolling
for us:

=========================
Essential Guide To Foam Rolling
=========================

Also, for your benefit I attached the muscle
by muscle print out guide that you can add
to your gym bag!

NEXT, on Thursday, I'll be sending you a
video and article on the new technique that
has helped our athletes restore their muscles
to the proper length and function faster than
basic rolling.

I know I've been on a lull with the newsletters
(summer high school football combine season),
but I'm throwing a lot of cool stuff your way this
week!

Stay Strong,

Joe

PS. Don't forget to read the Guide To Foam
Rolling before Thursday! It's the groundwork
for the advanced stuff coming your way.

Double PS. If you don't get the magazine, I'll
send the e-article over as well.

#2. I'm finally bringing back the topic of the week

Thanks and Stay Strong,

Last night we were feeling crushed after
chain squats, but wanted to still get through
our planned Bulgarian Split Squats with
a slight added range of motion.

I decided to integrate my grip training

Huge time saver!

Here's one way to save time and still get the
full workout in:

Have you ever seen someone that leaks energy
while running? Their arms are usually flopping all
over and their hips are tipping side to side.

Building a strong and stable core is part 1 of fixing
this solution BUT these muscles have to fire at the
right times.

Here's two simple ways to get started:

===============================
Core Training For Athletic Performance Level 1
===============================

This is video 1 in this 3 part trial series. I'm setting
my request low, just 75 video likes and I'll get
the next one up for you.

I'm sure some people will dismiss these as too simple
and will want something fancy. Don't overlook the
basics!

Stay Strong,

Joe

PS. (TRAINERS) Here's a complete solution for
getting the core to work for athletes. Functional
Stability Training that Eric Cressey just completed.

In 45 minutes I'm off to Las Vegas to present
at the NSCA Personal Trainer's conference on
dynamic dumbbell training.

Presenting on a similar topic last June, I received
questions on the number of reps and why we start
out only doing 1-5 repetitions.

Simply put, first we go over Dynamic effort (RFD)
exercises and then Repetition Effort (closer to
strength endurance). The tricky part is the same
exercises can be used for both, just the set and rep
scheme is altered.

Here's the difference:

1. Dynamic Effort Method Explained.

2. Repetition Method (Training to failure: yes or no)

As long as I don't have a heart attack on the Grand
Canyon helicopter tour, I'll be back with a new video
and post next week....50/50 chance.

Your boy,

Joe

PS. I'll be demonstrating new ground based DB
movements at the conference. Videos for everyone
next week.

Double PS. When I learn something new at the
conference, I'll post it SYNERGY'S FACEBOOK
PAGE. Give it a like to get the live updates.

Hi,

Despite the major swings in the fitness
industry, there are bits of pieces of knowledge
buried in each trend.

Here's what I've found out and the philosphy I use
at Synergy.

Strength Revolt.

Stay Strong,

Joe

PS. This is the term we wear across the chest of
our shirts at the gym.
