   I mentioned in my September 18th newsletter that I was going to a premier of the movie "Queen of Katwe".

   The movie was really fantastic!  Several members of the Denver Chess Club attended the event: myself, National Master Jesse Cohen, NM Lior Lapid, Life Master Brian Wall and Denver Chess Club manager J.C. MacNeil.

   After the screening, there was a live satellite Q&A session with Director Mira Nair and actors Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo.

   I think they were live to 20-25 different cities.  They gave us a hash tag to use, where we could send questions.

   There were some interesting tidbits during the Q&A.

   I didn't realize that the kids in the movie were not professional actors.  They were real kids from Uganda.  The girl who play Phiona had literally never been to a movie before.  They took her to see "Jurassic World" during the filming, and she asked "Is this what we are doing?"  She had never seen a movie (even though she was staring in one!), so didn't completely comprehend what was going on.  So the movie was kind of like her life as well.

   Most, if not all, of the scenes are really in Uganda and Africa - not some stage in Hollywood. 

   The whole thing was very touching.  It is a movie that I have been thinking about all week. 

   I bought a copy of the book on kindle, and I have been enjoying that as well.

   From the Baku Chess Olympiads – a very amusing position from a real game I have seen which could be used as a problem – which was not of the category I have sent you before, which was only interesting.  If you cannot see it in this e-mail, I insist that you give yourself the trouble to look at it.  From the Baku Olympiad, tactical brilliancy (the only best move, not long ramifications in terms of number of moves and options, but not obvious to find) by Mr Adhiban, from India, White, against Mr. Minero, from Costa Rica.  This was in round 2.  Maybe TTable.

   TB:  Thanks Raymond!  Totally agree!  This is a great one, and not obvious.

   47. Bf6!! is the move.

   This is similar to a Novotny in chess compositions, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novotny_(chess), which Wikipedia defines as "A white piece is sacrificed on a square where it could be taken by two different black pieces - whichever black piece makes the capture, it interferes with the other"

   If Black captures with the Bishop, 47...Bxf6 white makes a Queen with 48. f8=Q+

   If Black captures with the Rook, White has 48. Ra6+ Ke7 49.Rxf6 and Black cannot recapture because of 49...Kxf6 50. f8=Q+

   If 49...Kf8 50.Rxf4 with a winning endgame for White.
