his position comes from my game against Alan Wong (unrated) played this past weekend at the Loveland Open, Round 2.
In the position on the right it is Black to move.
Answer below.
This past weekend was the Loveland Open, held at the Larimer County Fairgrounds in Loveland Colorado. This is one of the oldest tournaments in Colorado. The tournament is kind of unusual with the sections. They are:
The city of Loveland was founded in 1877, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loveland,_Colorado
The Santa Fe section is named after that city, which was founded in 1610, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Fe,_New_Mexico You can see the cross table for the tournament here: http://www.uschess.org/msa/XtblMain.php?201602218142.0-12718954 There were some really good performances
There were a lot of new faces, with 4 unrated players, which is great.
Chris Peterson took clear first in the Open section. He bought 5 boxes of Girl Scout cookies from me during the tournament (my gf's daughter is in "Daises" and is selling them, and I am helping out), so now we know his secret weapon! :-) Shirley Herman was the head TD, with Randy Reynolds organizing and being assistant TD. Both were house players when needed to help avoid full point byes. There were 66 paid entries, which is a great turnout. It was a lot of fun!
