As you may recall, about 2 weeks ago I sent out a request for people to vote for my chess newsletter in the AWeber e-mail "2012 Summer Games".

AWeber is an e-mail marketing company that sends all of my e-mails for me, and they have over 100,000 customers all over the world.  They held a contest for the "best of the best" in e-mail marketing.  I was a finalist in the "content weight lifting" category.

I got back a lot of nice e-mails from people who told me they took the time to vote!

I also got a couple funny responses from people like Pete Short and Paul Anderson, who told me they went to the summer games site to vote for my newsletter, then ended up voting for the newsletter about wine, because it was better lol!

Jeff Baffo was frustrated, because he is from Chicago, and used to voting more than once in an election, but could only cast one vote for my newsletter.

But despite my own friends voting against me, and failed attempts at voter fraud, I am proud to announce that the Tactics Time Chess Improvement E-mail Newsletter won first place for "Best Content" in the 2012 AWeber E-mail Marketing Summer Games!

The criteria for the "Best Content" award was:

  • The content of the email relates to the brand's product or service without being a direct sales pitch.
  • The content of the email provides a measure of education or entertainment.
  • The content of the email provides value readers won't find elsewhere.

We salute you, the best of the best email marketers, with a place on the winners podium in the 2012 Email Marketing Summer Games.

Thanks so much to everyone who voted for my e-mail newsletter!  I put a lot of time and energy into it, to make it fun and useful to chess players all over the world, and I really appreciate winning this award!

There are two tactical themes that were used in conjunction.  The first is removing the guard (move 20. Rxd7 ) and the second is double attack (move 21. Qxe5+).  I often find that using two or more tactical themes are necessary when creating a successful combination.

   Happy Tactics!

   Your Friend,

P.S. Thanks again for the votes and support!
