Congratulations to my friend Fred Eric Spell who recently won the 2017 Chess Journalists of America's award for Best Electronic State Newsletter!

The award winners were announced this past week at the US Open, which is currently going on in Norfolk Virginia.

This is Fred's second year in a row winning the award for the outstanding work he does on the Colorado Chess Informant magazine, the official magazine of the Colorado State Chess Association.

You can see the current issue of the magazine, as well as back issues here: http://www.coloradochess.com/informants.shtml

What I love most about Fred's work is that everything has a timeless sense of style and class.  He really understands things like fonts, colors, and layout.  Everything that Fred does has a really clean look to it.

Colorado chess is very lucky to have such a skilled and talented editor for the state magazine!

You can see a complete list of the winners here:  http://chessjournalism.org/2017entries/AwardsRecipients.htm

   Congrats again Fred!
