TODAY'S TOUCHSTONE

"But wait, there's more."

                       ~ Ron Popeil

You've probably heard this saying, perhaps many times. First used by Ron Popeil as part of his TV sales pitches, it has been further popularized by others in many ways.

Here's my way:

Remember my good news/bad news "funny bone" post about my spinning left implant getting stuck upside down? How swimming seemed to accomplish getting it into proper position? I thought that was the end of that story.

"But wait, there's more."

After a few successful times, the swimming method of correction failed. I again tried turning it manually and again it got stuck sideways. I think it even got folded, if that's possible. At any rate, it's just not right.

TMI? At this point, or even earlier, you may be saying TMI! TMI! That's what by brother said when I tried to tell him why I need surgery again.

Yes, August 15. I hope you'll hang in there with me for the rest of the story.

Some of the "bad" news is that these first implants used are just not right for me and that I have to go under anesthesia and the knife again.

It turns out that the cavities under my old saggy skin are larger than the implants used, which were my natural size before all the breast tissue was removed. So I need to "go bigger." That could be considered good news because having been on the small size since puberty, I often wished for "bigger." Be careful what you wish for, they say.

The surgery should take only about an hour and a half and I go home the same day, so it's no "biggie." Hmm. I guess it's both "no biggie: and "yes biggie."

"Now you know the rest of the story."

                            ~ Paul Harvey

(If you're old enough, you may remember Paul Harvey and his famous show, The Rest of the Story. As part of his daily news broadcast, he always told a true story that held some obscure detail or a surprising twist, which he held back until the end.)

What gift or gifts does this post touch upon for you?

For me it is hope and joy. I'm aiming to trust what is unfolding and to keep joy in my life all through the rest of this story and beyond, always. A sense of humor too.

Along with love, courage, and faith,
Charlene
