"Lean on me, when
you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on."
~ Bill Withers
What might you say about this pair of pears? Or
about pairs? Or pears?
What first comes to mind for me is the song: "Lean on Me." Next, I notice the imperfections in both pears. I can relate to that.* You? I think we are all sometimes like these ripe organic pears...natural, vulnerable, imperfect, bruised, sweet, needing to lean on someone, being the one leaned
on...
Here are a few quotes about what others have said about pairs and pears:
"Originality is simply a pair of fresh
eyes." according to Thomas W. Higginson.
"Between saying and doing, many a pair of shoes is worn out," wrote Iris Murdock.
"There are only ten minutes in the life of a pear when it's perfect
to eat," according to Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Be sure to buy organic versions of the 'dirty dozen:' the fruits and vegetables that, when grown conventionally, are loaded with pesticides and chemicals: Grapes, apples, lettuce, bell peppers, carrots, nectarines, peaches, strawberries, pears, kale, and celery," said Suzanne
Somers.
I say: Let's accept blemishes, lean on each other, and eat organic pears.
With joy,
Charlene
* This is just a small example.
But yesterday, in Today's Touchstone, I spelled Gloria Vanderbilt wrong. Along the way, many days, I recognize goofs, mostly little, but some kind of big, some really big.
Another song comes to mind: "That's What Love is For" by Amy Grant.
Let's love ourselves and each other.
JOY: May it keep your heart open and filled with light. - from The Twelve Gifts of
