“Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair.” ~ Susan Polis Schultz
When I read this quote, I hear the lyrics, "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair."
I'm transported back to 1967. Despite the controversial war in Vietnam and the assassinations of Robert Kennedy and Dr.
Martin Luther King, I'm feeling hopeful. At 18, I'm filled with enthusiasm and joy. Surely, we will progress. Surely, we will overcome. Life is good. Life is beautiful.
In 2018, going on 70, despite the grave situations I now see in our country and the world, I am hopeful. And joyful. Surely, good will come from
this. Surely, we will progress. Surely, we will overcome. Life is good. Life is beautiful.
Consider this John Calvin quote: “There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice.”
John Calvin was not a "wear flowers in your hair" kind of
guy. But he too, this strict and conservative man of the cloth, encourages us to rejoice. There is always much to be grateful for.
No matter what,
