"To say, 'well done' to any bit of good work is to take hold of the powers which have made the effort and strengthen them beyond our knowledge."
~ Phillips
Brooks
Please read this quote again. It's not poetic, witty, or pithy so it could easily be dismissed and its power missed.
Like yesterday's quote, it's encouraging us to praise and commend one another. Actually, I'm the one doing the encouraging. Phillip Brooks' quote gives a reason why.
When we applaud good works, something wondrous
happens beyond our knowledge and understanding.
The powers that made the effort are strengthened.
This is especially important in today's world. So, instead of lamenting all that seems wrong, let's commend every effort being made to build respect among us, to insure freedom and justice for all, to safeguard opportunities for all, and to foster kindness, compassion, understanding and peace among us.
Share news of such efforts. Thank those making them. Join in somehow. Or do something unique to you. Nothing is too small. Every effort matters.
Let's be sure to practice this with the children in our lives too. Let's strengthen the gifts in one and all.
With hope,
Charlene
PS - I commend and thank you for every act of kindness, for every effort to help heal humanity's hurts, and for every beautiful thing you do.
