“Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don't.”
~ Steve Maraboli
This is the last day
of the Steve Maraboli fest. If you've been receiving my Today's Twelve Gifts Touchstones for some time, you may have noticed that I occasionally write a string of quotes from one author, philosopher, poet, playwright, theologian, actor, comedienne, athlete...anyone who offers us inspiring words to reflect upon and live by.
This last Maraboli quote sounds a bit like the well-known Serenity Prayer, which offers wisdom and guidance
for all. There are many versions of it. The most well-known one is:
- God grant me the serenity
- to accept the things I cannot change,
- the courage to change the things I can,
- and the wisdom to know the difference.*
Amen,
Charlene
PS - Forms of this prayer have been attributed to St. Thomas Aquinas, Thomas More, Cicero, Augustine, St. Francis of Assisi, Marcus Aurelius and others. This version is credited to Reinhold Niebuhr and associated with 12 Step Programs.
