“Accept what is. Heal and achieve inner peace.”
~ Sonia Ricotti
When you look at these gerbera daisies, what color do you first notice? Is there a particular flower that draws your interest? There are no right or wrong answers. There's not a response that's more loving, wise, or kind than others.
Viewing situations in life is more complicated; there are many more possibilities. And there are all kinds of reactions and responses.
It's unlikely that, when looking at this daisy picture, we would notice what we think is a missing color, or something that "should" be included. Whereas, in daily life situations, we often notice, even
judge, what's missing or what didn't get done according to our expectations, instead of what was accomplished.
Today's touchstone is an awareness exercise. You are invited to pay close attention when something triggers an upset in you. Look closely. What are you judging as wrong, not enough, missing, too much, or not meeting your expectations? Tune in to physical sensations in your body. What are you feeling? Let that be.
Now, look again at the daisies.
Notice is you are feeling more neutral and accepting. Is it possible you can become a little bit more neutral as you "look" at the situation?
Every upset is rich with opportunities for us. The intention of this simple activity is to become more aware of our upset reaction and to experiment with softening our edges when we feel edgy.
For peace and
well-being,
Charlene
P.S. - Consider this scenario: What if a longtime friend, one who had been supportive, helpful, and caring in many ways over the years, forgot to acknowledge your recent milestone birthday, how would you likely react?
REMEMBER: At the wondrous moment you were born, as you took your first breath, a great celebration was held in the heavens and twelve magnificent gifts were
granted to you.
