TODAY'S TOUCHSTONE

Often it takes some calamity to make us live in the present."
                    ~ Bill Watterson

I would imagine that every one of us has experienced at least one personal calamity that shook us awake and into the present moment. Then and there we realized what's truly important. We probably felt the power of love in a deeper way. Perhaps we glimpsed eternity or heard a life-saving message. We may have resolved to live life differently.

Recently, we've experienced a number of large-scale, public calamities. Together, we've seen loss of life and devastation to hearts and homes caused by hurricanes, floods, fires, and a man with mission to kill.

Instead of causing despair, may calamities lead us toward enlightened realizations and resolutions that bring out the best in us and help us to see the beauty of life and to value all creation.

With gratitude, love and reverence,
Charlene
