"We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Many reports carried in the news,
much of what is conveyed by government, and many of the stories that circulate among us now carry fear. How do you feel about this? How is it affecting you? Among the ways I'm responding is to overeat. No, it's not a healthy response. But another response is to counteract contentiousness with kindness. Another is to work on a new book about hope. Yet another is to connect with you each day via these touchstone quotes and
reflections.
We are a sensitive yet powerful community of people interested in healing, growth, and well-being for ourselves and others. We can about the earth. We want to make a difference. And we've got what it takes.
We can be on the first line of defense against growing fear and hate. We can be builders of respect, kindness, and hope. We can repair weakened neighborliness and foster
community harmony. We can create gardens, maintain playgrounds, support shelters, and speak up for all who are treated with disrespect. There are so many ways we can respond.
With strength and courage,
Charlene
