"Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground." ~ Rumi
Rumi reminds us that "kneeling and kissing the ground need not be literal." And yet this reminds me of a literal experience of such prayer. It concerns my grandmothers. Both liked to go on pilgrimages. Several times when I was a young girl they brought me with them to Sainte Anne de Beaupré in Quebec and Our Lady of the Cape in Trois Rivieres, Canada. At one of the shrines, there was a staircase that people climbed on their knees. My grandmother was among them.
My favorite devotional activity there was the candlelight processions and seeing nature in Canada.
Let's find a way to "kiss the earth" in some way today by noticing moments when our gratitude and awe are stirred. Prepare to grow deeply in love.
With faith,
Charlene.
