"That's what love is for
Melt our defenses
Bring us back to our senses
Give us strength to try once more...
That's what love is for."
~ Amy Grant
Although the song "That's What Love Is For" seems to be about a marriage or romance,
it holds wisdom for all relationships.
For healing wounds between spouses, friends, parents and children, siblings, neighbors, citizens of a country, people of the world, anyone, and everyone.
That's what love is for.
For
repairing rifts and rents,
heart breaks and trust breaches,
That's what love is for.
For melting our defenses,
and getting us back to our senses,
That's what love is for.
May we have the strength,
the courage and compassion,
the wisdom and reverence,
the hope and faith,
to try again,
and again,
and again.
To work together in harmony
and live together in peace.
That's what love is for.
That's what love can do.
For me
and you,
Charlene
