“When we share our stories, what it does is, it opens up our hearts for other people to share their stories. And it gives us the sense that we are
not alone on this journey.” ~ Janine Shepherd
A few days ago our touchstone began with the Anthony J. D'Angelo quote below and asked how we might smile yet remain authentic when we are not in a smiling mood.
"Smile, it is the key that fits the lock of everybody's heart." ~ Anthony J. D'Angelo Smiling does open hearts, ours as well as others. I hear someone saying, "What if I am not in
the mood to smile? What if I'm feeling angry or I'm feeling depressed?" I hear you. There are times when smiling would seem fake to me too, and we do need to be honest and real with ourselves and others... |

Today I would like to share what Judith wrote in response:
"When I’m in a ‘sour’ mood, the best thing in the world that I can do is go somewhere among people — the grocery store works great for me — and smile…at the help, at other customers…… The first smile may sometimes take a little effort on my part, but that soon changes, as people smile
back. The people at the grocery store all know me, and some come up and hug me!
"Customers greet me and offer help, too. (I use a cane.) One day I was waiting a long time for my ride home and 3 people offered to give me a lift (!). "Long story short, by the time I’m through with my visit, I’m feeling really wonderful, for real. That ‘sour’ mood is a thing of the past." ~ Judith
Thank you for sharing your experience, Judith. Thank you all for following Today's Touchstone.
With love and best wishes for a day that is beautiful and naturally sweet,
Charlene
