“All that glitters is not gold. " ~ Proverb
Consider this too:
“All that is gold does not glitter." ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
When Frank and I moved from New York to Arizona in 1994, our daughters and I bought him a "Gold Mining Kit" for his birthday. It included rights to go on certain restricted lands to dig or pan for gold in streams. It was meant to be both fun and funny, and it was both. We especially enjoyed sluicing and seeing dirt become fine black soil with glittering gold pieces. The glitter turned out to be fools gold. It was a tangible lesson and is now a touchstone for the famous proverb.
Let's not be fooled by glitter, slick talk, or bravado or be drawn in to anything less than what is truly valuable in life and within us.
Let's mine within ourselves the extremely valuable natural resources of love, compassion, hope, wisdom, The Twelve Gifts.
For the highest good,
