TODAY'S TOUCHSTONE

"The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it. ”

                                      ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Today, may we be attentive to present moments, aware of our suroundings, ready to see beauty, and receptive to joy.

Yesterday morning, starting my first day on a vacation but not yet in a vacation state of mind, I was striding through the beautiful gardens at Sanibel Moorings on Sanibel Island with my eyes focused on getting to my destination and my head full of plans.

When alas, a flitting butterfly
circled me twice, called me into the present moment, and gifted me with joy.

I later learned that it was a Black Swallowtail and that the life span of that species is only about 10-12 days.

Thankfully, we're here for a much longer time. Nevertheless, remembering that our days are numbered, may we delight in living this day and every day.

With joy,
Charlene
