Everywhere we look we see colour - advertising, clothes, jewellery, cars etc yet it also has wonderful healing qualities.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Learning to use colour breathing can help improve your life, whatever your problem may be. Practice the technique below whenever necessary and you will begin to see the benefits almost immediately. There are many more colours you can use but I've included the main ones below.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

It has a soothing influent on the mind and body. It is a good colour if you need to relax as it helps to balance and improve your thoughts. &lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;It also helps you overcome some of your fears.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;

It stimulates the adrenaline and heart activity.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt; You should imagine magenta when you need to let go of negative thoughts or ideas. It helps facilitate any type of change and brings out your spiritual energies.

You should imagine orange if you are feeling lifeless and depressed.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Orange stimulates creative thinking and helps assimilate new ideas, other options and possibilities. &lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;You can also use it if you want to aid your digestion.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

It increases your strength and sexuality and stimulates your reproductive system. Red also energises you and gives you the confidence you need to have in life. You should imagine red when you lack energy or are exhausted.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Turquoise is used to calm and soothe. It can help increase your intuition and sensitivity. It strengthens the immune system and can help feverish conditions and inflammations. You should imagine turquoise if you feel dominated by other people or always give in to their thoughts or ideas.

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="color: purple; font-size: 13.5pt" lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;span style="color: purple; font-size: 13.5pt" lang="EN-US"&gt;Violet&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 13.5pt" lang="EN-US"&gt;
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Violet is the colour of self dignity, respect and transformation. You should imagine violet if you lack self esteem. It is also useful when you find you are putting yourself down or start to feel that you can't achieve your goals.
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span style="color: yellow; font-size: 13.5pt" lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;span style="color: yellow; font-size: 13.5pt" lang="EN-US"&gt;Yellow&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 13.5pt" lang="EN-US"&gt;

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Yellow is the colour for studying and concentrating. It stimulates intellect and increases your ability to be objective. It increases detachment and helps if you are feeling oversensitive or controlled by other people or when you find it difficult to let go of something. It also engerises the muscles.
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;span&gt;You can also mix the colours for example - you&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt; could use blue for calming yourself before interviews and use orange if you want new ideas in the interview.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;You could use blue to relax your body and yellow to stimulate your intellect for exams.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If you are giving a presentation you may wish to breathe in a communicative colour such as yellow. If you need physical energy, you may try inhaling red light.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: 'Arial', 'sans-serif'; color: black" lang="EN-US"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;You may only need to take 12 breathes for a lasting effect.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Use whatever colour or combination of colours you feel is right for you.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I've used red in the meditation below as an example.

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Imagine a beautiful colour of red floating in front of you.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Look at the pure colour, vibrant and rich.
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Now breathe in slowly inhaling the beautiful red cloud into your lungs. Hold the breath for a few seconds and breathe out slowly.
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;As you breathe out imagine all the negativity leaving you as you exhale.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;You may see this as an impure colour, or grey breathe as you exhale.
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Keep breathing in and out drawing in more of the red cloud each time.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Feel the red move all around your body as your blood carries it from your lungs.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Feel your body wakening and energising.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The red is spreading through your whole body and is now passing through your skin and into your aura.
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Soon your aura is filled with this beautiful red colour.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;You now feel full of energy.

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;You could visualise blue, turquoise and violet coming down from the atmosphere as vertical rays into the crown and down to the various organs. &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;You could visualise green and magenta should be visualized as coming into the navel and spreading out to all the organs.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;The Heart Chakra is the fourth Chakra which rests in the centre of the chakra system and is the place where our true Self and our Spirit resides.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The fourth chakra is the balancing point which integrates the world of matter (the lower three chakras) with the world of spirit (the upper three chakras).&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;What does this mean?&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;To me the Heart Chakra is like the meeting place of the 'Personality/Ego' and the 'Spirit/Soul Consciousness'. When your Heart Chakra is fully open then you are in touch with your higher self all the time, where it is out of balance the personality/mind has a stronger hold on you i.e. you listen to the fear or allow one thought to create an image in your head (sometimes false image) that prevents you from making change or moving forward. &lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;Do you ever feel like there are 2 parts within you fighting? One part of you feels alive, free, creative and open to love while the other part feels like it's full of fear, uncertainty and wants you to stay exactly as you are (it tells you 'this is as good as it gets'). That is the battle of the Ego and Spirit.&lt;/font&gt;
&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;font face="Arial"&gt;Your Spirit is your higher self or real self and only knows love, trust, compassion, empathy, forgiveness, uncertainty, warmth etc.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Your Ego on the other hand is the false self and it only knows fear, doubt, stress, anxiety and negativity, likes to be safe and needs certainty to exist. Thus, fear and doubt reflect the ego, and love and trust reflect the spirit.  Ego creates a barrier to the spirit, as Ego needs certainty to survive and spirit lives and flows in uncertainty.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Some would say that nothing in life is certain so why do we have this fear?&lt;span&gt;   &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;font face="Arial"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;
&lt;font face="Arial"&gt;The Ego's job is to keep the physical body safe, and guide your spirit through the journey of life.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;You may think it does a pretty good job of keeping the 'spirit' off track! That is because the Ego is much more forceful when it comes to being in control, and plays a more dominant role in our lives.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;This means that our Spirit is often left whispering softly waiting to be heard.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Have you ever noticed that when you 'surrender (some people might say 'give up') that solutions just appear? That is your Spirit working for your highest good.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;In our busy lives we don't give Spirit an opportunity to turn up its volume - we keep thinking we 'should be doing this or that', we have to keep forcing things to happen and we have to keep moving. &lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Yet, it is when we let our 'thinking minds' rest, spend time in nature, meditate, do something creative or retreat into ourselves that our Spirit can finally be heard.&lt;span style="font-weight: normal"&gt;

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;font face="Arial"&gt;&lt;span&gt;We live in a world where we are lead by our heads - we are always 'doing'.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;As a result of this we may be overly focused on thought and cut ourselves off from the emotions and the body.  When we lead by our hearts we are just 'being'.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If we are truly connected and living by our hearts our lives flow, things fall into place, we continually learn and above all we trust and surrender to our life purpose.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;It's a journey from your head to your heart - to live from your heart.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;font face="Arial"&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;So here are few tips on how to open your heart chakra...&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Yoga&lt;/strong&gt; as well as being a philosophy and a form of exercise it also focuses on opening the chakras of the body. You may notice that you sit with your shoulders hunched, rounded, head forward and chest collapsed.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;When we do this we are contracting the area of the body with the heart in it.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I've been practicing yoga now for about a year and I have to say that I love the exercises that open the heart chakra.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;One of my favourites (probably one of the simplest things to do also!) is actually a passive chest opener where I arch over a bolster, arms at my side - I find it so relaxing and really allows me to breathe deep into my heart - I could lie like that all day!&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Ask your Yoga Teacher which poses you could practice at home to help you open your heart chakra - I know the Camel, Cobra and fish pose focus on the heart chakra.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Breathing.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Yes, simple as it sounds but do you know that most of us don't breathe correctly.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;We restrict our breath to the top of our chest (shallow breathers).&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;By breathing deep into our navel we are allowing ourselves to access emotions that we may be pushing down into our stomach.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;So are you a shallow breather? Place your hand on your chest and another hand on your stomach and take a few breathes in.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;What raises first - your chest or stomach? Does your stomach even rise at all?&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;You are a shallow breather where the air you inhale mainly raises you chest.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Deep breathing (Yogi Breathe) focuses on bringing breathe into the stomach. Here's an exercise to help you breathe a little deeper.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Breathe in through your nose (most of us use our mouths);&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Exhale through your mouth as much as possible;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Stay focused so you do not shallow breathe;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Maintain a proper posture - shoulders should be held back and down so as to utilise the full lung capacity;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Pause between breathes to allow the nervous system to rest (approx 3 seconds);&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Use the entire lungs (most of us use the upper part thereby having shallow breathing);&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Fill the bottom half of the lung first then the upper part; and&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Take fewer breathes and get a lot of air with each breath rather than many shallow breathes.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Create a list of &lt;strong&gt;activities&lt;/strong&gt; that make you feel good or bring you peace and joy and then do something from the list.  Release the creative individual within you.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Decide to follow your &lt;strong&gt;heart and inner joy&lt;/strong&gt; for one day.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Don't let the head rule you and see what difference it makes.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Do you feel more joy in the things you do? Have you been surprised by how easy things can be? Do you feel more free and alive?&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;font face="Arial"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Meditation
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Sit comfortably.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Close your eyes and begin to breathe slowly and deeply.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Relax your shoulders and forehead.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Feel yourself relax into the chair.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Sense the presence of your angel or reiki guide.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Feel him/her sitting in front of you.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Feel your angel/guide breathing with you.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Take a few deep breathes into the bottom of your stomach.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Fell your stomach rises slowly and easily with each breathe which allows you relax further and further.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Bring your attention to your heart and feel it beating.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Place your hands on it and feel it beating - the pulsing of your heart. Continue to breathe slowly and deeply into your stomach with your angel.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Allowing the air to come in through your nose, down your chest, filling your heart, down your arms, encompassing your stomach and flowing down your legs and out into the earth.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Tune into the feelings in your heart that you want to heal. Allow yourself to experience them fully.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Set your intention that you want to heal your heart - that you are ready to heal your heart for your highest good.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Sense your angel's heart, directly across from your own. See and feel it pulsing with a warm, clear, loving and joyful light.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;From your angel's heart a ray of light begins to shine forth, beaming directly towards your heart. It is a warm, giving, peaceful, joyful and wonderful light. Notice what colour it is. Feel that light beaming into your heart, warming and filling it.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Your heart fills with this light.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The walls of your heart and each of the four chambers are glowing,&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The light moves into all wounded places in your heart, melting your protective armour, healing old heart wounds and clearing any hurts that are present. &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;If there is anyone you need to forgive, beam this light out to them - picture this person receiving the healing light and see it fill their body.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Let the light within you work to melt the specific feelings that you've been holding and bring you to a place where you can forgive yourself for any pain you've caused others.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Let this light pour out of your heart and fill your entire body. It is the light of angelic love, and you are now infused with it. It overflows and spills out of your body, surrounding you in a radiant blanket of light.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Know that this light is always present and you can call up this blanket of love to surround you at any time.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt;Thank your angel for its gift of healing love. Be aware of your breathing and of yourself sitting in the chair. When you are ready, gently open your eyes.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;

As Reiki Practitioners we are able to send Reiki to heal our planet on a daily basis. At 12pm Greenwich time, all the Reiki practitioners and Reiki masters in the world get together to send healing to the planet. It only takes a few minutes of your day and it's a great way to start the day.  After the events in Haiti, now is a good a time as any to start this small habit everyday. &lt;font face="Arial"&gt;Yes, it's that time of year again when the 2009 Goal list is dug out of the back of the drawer where it was gathering dust, you might score out 2009 and replace it with 2010 or you might berate yourself for once again not following through on your goals.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;It's now half way through January - you might be working your way successfully towards your goals, you might not have any goals set, you might have them but not actually started the process, you might have fallen of the bandwagon or the list might already be in the drawer (or back of your mind) gathering dust.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;I'm not here to wag the finger - you might have very good reasons for not following through with you goals - Did you really want them? Were they really your goals or someone elses (my friends/mum/employer think I should..), Is it something you feel you must, should, have to, need to do/have? Or Did you come up against some challenges that you didn't know how to get around?&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;span&gt;
&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="2" face="Arial"&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

If you find that you are having trouble achieving a goal or that you are resisting following through on your goal then try these exercises.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;If you find yourself getting emotional with the answers/replies just stay with that feeling and allow yourself to experience it as much as possible for a few moments.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Then allow yourself to let it go.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Write the sentence 'The reason I can't have a [Your Goal] is....'. You can now start writing a list of answers to complete this sentence.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Remember don't think too hard, just let your hand do the writing and don't think too hard about what you are saying - just let it flow.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;Don't judge yourself for what you have written or take it too seriously.A sample list could be:

Archangel Michael


Hi ,
  
 
These exercises doesn't take long so you can incorporate them into your daily routine as clearing ourselves of negative energy always helps us to see and think more clearly.  



 
Archangel Michael is the Angel of Protection, strength and truth.  He is often depicted with his sword, shield and cloak of cobalt blue. His name means 'Who is as God'.  He is also associated with the colour blue which also relate to clarity of communication, speaking ones truth and being honest with yourself.



 
Archangel Michael uses his:



Sword to cut  away any negative ties / etheric cords that bind you to others, negative situations or energies, to give you a prod when you need to keep moving in the right direction.


Cloak/Shield to protect you, give you strength and shield you from harmful energy.

Archangel Michael - Releasing Negative Energy with the Vacuum





Invoke Archangel Michael (X 3);


Focus upon any negative feelings, situation, anger, despair, fear etc that you are experiencing and want to clear.  It can work on tour physical body, your mind, your feelings - whatever needs cleaning.


Visualise your angel floating above you.  Let the image become stronger and feel the energy of the angel around you - love, caring and compassion;


Notice you angel is holding a vacuum cleaner which is designed to remove all negative energy (like a household vacuum does with dirt and dust).  Make is any shape or colour you like.  You can also see that it has 4 settings - Low, Medium, High and Reverse;


Your angel holds the machine in one hand and the hose in the other.  The angel holds the nozzle of the vacuum at the top of your head;


See Archangel Michael turn on the vacuum onto whatever speed feels comfortable to you - high, medium or low. You can adjust the setting at anytime you want. The vacuum will inhales all the heaviness and darkness which will go into the light of God where it will be instantly purified and transformed and dispersed;


Feel the suction of the vacuum as it hoovers any negativity and stuck emotions from the top of your head, around your head, your ears and your throat;


Feel it clear around your chest, your heart, your stomach, your kidneys, and lungs and liver;


Feel it continue to suck negativity from your shoulders, arms, elbows, hands and fingers (you can do each arm individually);


Feel it clearing your hips, knees, shins, ankles, feet and toes (you can do each leg individually);


Feel all negativity, worry, stress, anxiety and block energy being sucked out of your body and into the vacuum;


If you feel you need to go over any areas again, do so;


Feel any pain, sorrow, anger, upset or confusion you have been experience diminish;  


Breathe deeply and allow yourself to lighten up and feel;


Now see Archangel hit the reverse button which allows a beautiful which light to be emitted from the vacuum.  This white light travels down through and around your body filling it with love, peace and security. Feel/See this beautiful white energy filling your aura and see it becoming brighter and brighter; and


When you are finished thank Archangel Michael for his help and assistance in clearing your negativity.



How do you feel after this exercise?  Has your mood lightened? If you feel light headed remember to ground yourself.



 
Cutting cords:


Archangel Michael used his blue flaming sword to cut cords which can become attached to us and from us (we have cords representing our attachment to others, as well as cords representing others attachment to us).  Cutting the cords does not cut us off from love; we are cutting the cords of fear.  The cords of attachment created by Love always remain. The cords are lines of energy attachments created when people try to hold onto someone because o fear, guilt or any other negative emotion e.g. it can relate to people, past situations, fears or issues like money or romance .  These attachments drain your energy, make your tired, may cause pain, prevent you from being your true self and create an imbalance. When the cords are cut you will feel lighter and freer to follow your path and be yourself as only negative cords are cut.


Invoke Archangel Michael (x3)


Notice if you are holding any fear or tension and let yourself release it.


Ask Archangel Michael to cut any psychic cords of attachments that may be connected to your energy field. Ask him to return these cords to their Source. You can visualize his blue flaming swords cut through these cords that are attached to your body in various places.


Archangel Michael, please cut and release any negative entities, energies, family members or friends fully in all direction of time (in this and any other life time) from my field now and return them to their source.  I ask for full clearance of my field now.


Ask Archangel Michael to send green healing like to the remainder of the detached cords and dissolve them with love. You can visualize the green light flowing through your body down to where the 'stub' of the cord remains and see it dissolve as the green light flows through it.


Continue to breathe deeply and sit quietly for a little while longer and then take a deep breath and move on feeling free.

This exercise will bring the focus back on you and what you can do to clear your energy field.  I actually love these exercises especially the one which uses a vacuum (note - it's an imagined and not real vacuum!) and also because it reminds me of the 'shack and vac' ads (it's an 80's thingJ).

Energy Vampires and You

This month I've decided to discuss how you can protect your energy in situations where you feel drained - (by Energy Vampires).  Ok, maybe Vampires is a harsh term but it is nearly Halloween and it seems quiet adept with all the hype about the books, TV programmes and movies e.g. Twilight and True blood (I have to say I am a big fan of TwilightJ ) A number of people have mentioned to me that they feel drained by people and it's a term that keeps popping up over the past few weeks so I took it as a sign to do this newsletter.


 
What Are Energy Vampires?

 
You may be asking yourself do you know any Energy Vampires. Well, I'd be surprised if you've never come into contact with at least one.  Have you ever met or do you know someone who drains the living daylights out of you? They drain your positivity by encouraging you to be negative too.
You can often recognize them from what they are saying to you: Did I tell you how much I hate my life and work? Did I tell you what so and so did to me? Did I tell you how my life stinks? Why does everything go wrong for me?' Did I tell you why nothing goes right for me? You can't do that. How are you ever going to do that? Are you living in a fantasy world? Who do you think you are? In other situations the words may be different but the result ends up being the same - you are left feeling deflated, drained and exhausted after the conversation. 
 
 
However, energy vampires should not be confused with the majority of people who need support, directions and time to talk - these people are working on themselves and the situation they find themselves in.  The majority of people are looking for answers (within and outside) and they are prepared to accept responsibility, be accountable and take action. Whereas Energy Vampires want the attention and sympathy but don't want to accept responsibility, be accountable or do anything about the situation in which they find themselves.


 
How can you Identify Energy Vampires?


 
Energy Vampires may or may not know that what they are doing.  Their behaviours may have become habitual to them so they don't even see what they are doing or hear how they are sounding.  They are doing what they have always done - complain, put down, give out and play the victim.  Examples of Energy Drainers are friends/family/colleagues etc who:


 


Only speak about themselves and their problems;


Talk about everyone behind their backs but never to their faces;


Only speak negativity and gossip continuously;


Don't respect your boundaries, privacy and will intrude on your life;


Make big deals out of nothing as they like the drama;


Constantly complain about their jobs, colleagues, friends, bad luck and partners but never do anything about it;


Criticise your hair, clothes, appearance, job, partner and friends; and


Blame everyone else for their problems as they don't like to take responsibility, be accountable or take action.

 
What can you do to limit the drain of Energy?



Identify the Vampires in your life.  What impact do they have on you?  How do you know when you're being drained?  How can you change the dynamic of your conversations so you can interact with these individuals?


Limit the amount of time you spend with these individuals. The less time you're together, the less positive energy you'll lose.


Learn good ways to end conversations with these individuals e.g. I only have 10 minutes to talk? Excuse me; I really have to go to.....


Ask them questions which focuses on action and responsibility like 'So what do you plan to do next?' 'So you've identified the issues/problems, tell me how you can change things for the better?'


Don't give them too much time to sit and talk.  In an office environment, you can stand as if you are about to go somewhere, give them a few minutes to see if they want to talk about something important but if it is the same story then you can walk towards the door as if you are going somewhere.


Stand up for yourself and your boundaries.


Be honest about your needs (e.g., I need this time to work/read/relax/exercise.)


Refrain from attempting to rescue them or fix their problems. Sometimes, people just need to go through the pain as difficult as that may be so don't try to fix them. When you look back on some of your greatest achievements in life, they probably all required you to get intimate with the feeling of pain. While you probably didn't like it while it was happening, looking back you know that it had to happen because it taught you valuable lessons.


Where necessary, practice walking away from energy vampires; the more you do it the easier it gets.


Be courageous.  Be straight with them and tell them that you will not have the same conversations about these issues until you see them doing XYZ. Tell them 'this is what I can do for you, and this is what I can't.'


Tell energy vampires you feel uncomfortable discussing particular people or circumstances.


Be kind. It's easy to resent energy vampires, but getting caught up in negativity only makes the situation worse. To neutralize energy vampires, you need to look in the mirror and make sure you're not being negative, too. By paying attention to the people who seem so draining, you might discover something you need to address. You may find that once you've worked through a particular issue, you're no longer worn out by that kind of energy vampire. You can stop the negativity cycle by sending out love and reiki to the other person.

Call on your Angels to protect you. Ask Archangel Michael to cut and release you from any negative energy. Imagine yourself wearing a blue cloak with a hood which covers you to the floor.  The blue protects you, just like Michael would.
Imagine yourself wrapped in a big bubble of White Light. It surrounds your from top to toe, including under your feet and over your head and stretches about 3 feet beyond yourself.
Imagine yourself wrapped in Golden Light as this will allow love and good things into your energy field.  It also converts the negative energy into positive energy and returns it to the sender.
Hang out with more people who radiate positive energy, friends with whom you feel connected and leave you feeling good about yourself.

Connecting With Your Angels


Hi ,
  
 
When I initially put pen to paper (or should that be fingers to keyboard) I was writing about Energy Vampires and how to protect your own energy when you come into contact with them.  Somehow along the way, the message changed and I've found myself writing about Guardian Angels.


 
For me, I find great comfort in knowing that there are tons of Angels out there on my side, working for me and with me in my growth, development and journey through life.  I may not 'know' who they are but I have a knowingness within that there are here and present - usually laughing at me and with me!


 
One of the first things that I received about 4 or 5 years ago from a friend, was the following prayer, that gave me comfort in a time when I felt truly alone and isolated.  I know that most people probably know this prayer but at that time in my life I had forgotten it since my childhood.  It's funny how things turn up just when you need them.  I clung to that prayer saying it whenever I felt alone or unsure of what step to take.  It never failed to bring me comfort.  However, now I know that the angels are always there, ready willing and able - waiting for us to ask for assistance or our hearts desire.


 
Here it is... I hope it helps you to


 
Angel sent by God to guide me,

be my light and walk beside me;

be my guardian and protect me;

on the path of life direct me.


 
Your Guardian Angel is always here with you, never forget it.  They want us to speak to them, to listen to the, to share our hopes, dreams and passions, to carry our burdens, sorrows and loss with them.  They will carry us on their wings when times are tough and we feel alone.  Sit, be quiet, be still and listen - your guardian angel speaks....


 
We can all chat to our angels, it about letting go of our conscious or ego and just going for it.  

The following exercise will show you how to communicate with your Guardian Angel through writing or you can do this in a meditative state if you prefer to chat to them.  


 
How to contact your Guardian Angel-


 
Prepare for the event as you would do if you were going to meditate - make the space clear, light and peaceful either with candles, soft music or aroma.  All you need is a pen and paper.


 

Do a Grounding Meditation or do a reiki self treatment;

Draw any reiki symbols you are attuned to in front of you (if you have no symbols that is fine, just continue onto the next step);

Take a few moments to focus on your breathing.  Focus on your breathe in and out, in and out so that the length of the inhale is the same as the exhale.  Allow your body to relax; 
Now turn your intention inward and sense or focus on your angel the same way you do when you write to a friend.  Think of your angel and allow yourself to feel their energy; 
Date your sheet and write 'Dear Angel' and just let the words, questions and answers flow out from you and onto the paper.  Don't think about what you are writing, just let the pen flow. Write down whatever you receive, which may be words, images or feelings. Don't dismiss or criticise what comes through, accept the answers with thanks. 
Once you receive a response, without thinking about it write it down;

As you are conversing with your angel be aware of the energy of the angel and become familiar with it so you can identify it later stage; 

Continue with the conversation until you have come to the end; and 
Thanks you angel for its guidance and support.

You may want to prepare the questions before hand so you know what you want to ask or you may just discuss a problem/situation in your life just like you would discuss it with a friend.  

Some questions you could ask include:


 

What is your name?

How can you help me?

What do I need to know right now?

Please tell me how can I improve my connection to reiki?

Please tell me how can I improve my connection to the angels?

What is my life purpose?

How can I serve more?

What changes should I make to my lifestyle? 


 
You may ask as many questions are you want.  You may look for guidance on a personal or business matter.  Use the conversation to ask questions from your heart - look into your heart and find out what you want to know.
Remember the Angels want us to ask questions, the want us to use our free will to give them permission to help us!  So keep asking because they are listening!
 

An Angel will never tell you what to do.  They may make suggestions that may come to you in a knowingness, gut instinct and synchronicities but at the end of the day we all have free will.  You can listen to their suggestions or ignore them, but the Angels will never leave you and will always be at your side guiding you with love because they never give up on you.

 
I remember the first time I did this exercise my logical brain was still in the 'are you making this up' phase.  I could sense my Guardian Angel beside me chatting and just laughing at me.  One part of me knew I wasn't making it up but another part of me thought 'who are you kidding!'Now, I know and have been told that my Guardian Angels like to have a good old laugh at me - I'm just glad they find me that entertaining!!  You just have to let go and take that leap of faith and go for it.   


 
As with everything in life, practice, practice , practice and above all enjoy!

REIKI SELF TREATMENTS

Welcome to my July 2009 Newsletter!  I have to say I am loving the weather we are getting in Ireland at the moment - it may not be heatwave material but at least the umbrella can stay at home. I've had a very enjoyable month since my last newsletter.  My sister got married so that was a great family occasion which was full of fun, laughter and dancing! Another sister is away off travelling india for inspiration for her work as an illustrator (how very tempted I was to pack my bags too!).  I also spent a lovely 4 days in Wexford completing the Anergy Energy Healing course which was just beautiful.  It was such a relaxing and revitalising weekend.

REIKI SELF TREATMENTS
 
As Reiki Practitioners, Level 1 up to Master Level, I am sure you can agree that we tend to focus our efforts on those who come into our lives seekinf assistance.  Yet as reiki students we took level 1 so we could use reiki on ourselves and others.  Are you using reiki on yourself as much as you could or would like to?  Do you half heartedly do a self treatment or go without doing treatments?
 
Performing a reiki self treatment is about giving yourself the time to focus on your life, your thoughts, your emotions and your body as well as giving yourself the time to listen to what your body and your intuition is telling you.  You can spend as little as 36 minutes (3 mins per hand position) up to an hour or more doing a self treatment.  The more you do self treatments, the more they will become a part of your daily life like brushing your teeth.  A self treatment is an important part of a reiki practitioners self improvement and healing. 


 
If you are resisting doing self treatment or find that you are always rushing it, perhaps you should ask yourself why?  Why can you not spare half an hour for yourself? Why are you in such a rush?  Do you feel you deserve this time for yourself?  Are you spending more time looking after others than your own needs? Do you feel that you are not worth it?  By giving yourself the time to use this wonderful energy you will receive benefit through your own healing, growth and release of energy blocks.  You are allowing yourself the opportunity to love yourself and thereby you will have more to give to others - clients, students, family and friends.


 
I do understand that receiving a full body treatment from another Reiki Practitioner is a lovely way to relax and take a back seat.  Yet, you can top yourselves up in between sessions as often and as much as you want.  As Reiki Practitioners we carry our 'tools' with us everywhere we go and can use it at our own disposal.  How many people/businesses do you know that have their tools with them all the time!  


 
At the end of the day, we are all only human and can get swept away by the business and confusion of our lives.  Yet, we must not be hard on ourselves if we have lacked the focus to perform self treatments until now.  We can decide to make a commitment to ourselves that we will take the first step in honouring ourselves with a self treatment.  So could you commit t
o giving yourself a reiki treatment once a week or even 20 minutes a day?  Can you imagine how you would feel after the self treatment - would you be relaxed, stress free, have a clear mind, increased vibration and feel even happier?  Why not give it a go and see how you feel?
 

 
This exercise below is the outline of a self treatment.


 

 Find a peaceful setting in nature or your own reiki sanctuary and enjoy the energy that surrounds you. 
 Breathe easily and gently and feel the calmness of all that surrounds you enter your body. 
 Intend that the Reiki should flow for your highest good.

 Begin doing Reiki on yourself. You can do a complete treatment using all the hand positions or you can use Byosen scanning and treat only those areas you are guided to.
 Once the energy starts flowing, begin repeating this affirmation: I ask that the joy of Reiki will continuously express through me.

 If you have any issues you are working on, any challenging situations, or any aches or pains in your body or medical or psychological conditions, focus on them as you perform the reiki treatment.
 When you are ready, breathe deeply, place your hands in Gassho (see below), bow slightly and give thanks for the connection and time for this moment.

 Open your mind to messages that you may receive in these moments or simply enjoy the moment.


 
Remember that giving yourself Reiki will increase your vibration, help you feel calmer and more peaceful. So, after the 30 or so minutes, what did you feel? Has your level of joy increased? If you were feeling depressed or down or upset in any way, has this lessened? Are things starting to shift toward a more positive state of mind? Are you feeling better? Will you commit to doing a reiki self treatment once a week now?


 
Gassho

A ritual gesture formed by placing the hands together in a prayer-like position.  Hold your hands up, with the palms close together. Each finger is supposed to lie upon the respective finger of the other hand. The hands are held so that the finger-tips are just below the nose. The elbows are not touching the body, but there is enough space in between the inside of the upper arm and the armpit to fit in an egg. The back is held erect and the head floating up by itself as if held up by a helium-filled balloon. 'Gassho' implies recognition of the oneness of all beings.

News - Angel Energy Healing Course


I completed the Angel Energy Healing Course with Mary K Hayden in Wexford.  
 
It was a wondering 4 days of healing and working with our and others angels.  I met a load of lovely women who I had the pleasure to spend the days with - there was plenty of self development and laughter.
 
I just have to do my case studies and then I can decide how I will use the tools and techniques in my own practice.  I will keep you updated!

Healing the Past with Reiki

Welcome to my June 2009 Newsletter!  I hope you are getting an opportunity to enjoy the sunshine (and avoiding the thunder storms at the same time!!).  Well I've had a busy month with a number of new opportunities that we brought my way.  Sometimes I think that when we step out of our own way, then things get a chance to move along or bloom.  I delighted to be getting a new website as I have setup my other websites myself but I am definitely not very technically minded so it gives me an opportunity to concentrate more on my business rather than reading the 'Dummies Guide to Websites etc.

HEALING THE PAST WITH REIKI
 
Have you ever heard people say ' the past haunts them', 'they are living in the past', 'they can't escape the past' or how often do you replay events from the past and kick yourself for your actions or lack of actions.  Do you ever stop to notice that the events you replay are probably the events where you did not act in a way you wanted or events did not turn out the way you expected.  How often do you replay all the good things that have happened in the past or imagine all the good things that can happen in the future? 


 
As humans, we allow the past to have a hold on us.  So often we are living in the past that we are not aware of the present or even things about the future.  The past has happened, it is over and done but we continue to re-run events from the past in our minds so that they are as vivid as the day they happened.  If you were to put one euro into a box each time you berated yourself over a past event then I'm pretty sure you could collect a handsome amount for charity! If you were do put one euro in for each time you have wonderful and empowering thoughts about the present and future, how much money would you be losing each day?

 
It is possible to send reiki to the past using the Distant symbol.  By sending reiki to the past event, this usually results in the restrictive, difficult feelings about the event to become weaker and weaker until the event becomes like any other normal memory.


 
However it is important to remember that we can only have responsibility for our own self healing, but by healing our own reactions and thoughts about a particular situation, that healing automatically flows outwards.  However, even though you are responsible for your own self healing, you can send reiki and love to those who may have hurt you.  We all carry emotional baggage from past events (or past actions of people) but we don't have to let them control us or how we live our present. We can resolve the feelings assoociated with these individuals.
 
In order to help you release and heal the past events, I've set out the steps for sending reiki to the past and sending reiki to those also involved in the situation.
 
SENDING REIKI TO THE PAST

 
1.      Choose the event you would like to heal

 
2.      Describe the event in writing on a piece of paper. Put in as much detail as you are able to remember.  You can simply describe it as the original cause of the issues or problems you think have been created from the event

 
3.      If you know the date, include this also (or the nearest year you can link to it)

 
4.      Hold the sheet of paper in one hand

 
5.      Draw the distant symbol over the sheet of paper.  Silently say its mantra 3 times, sensing its connecting the you or today with the you of that time

 
6.      Also draw the Mental/Emotional symbol over them, saying its mantra 3 times, sensing its healing flowing to the hurt and upset and to the root cause and the lessons you were meant to learn from the event

 
7.      Also draw the Power symbol and say its mantra 3 times sensing a strong flow of reiki moving into that time

 
8.      Hold the sheet between your hands and give it reiki

 
9.      You could also set your intention 'I give thanks that all the pain, hurt and trauma from these events are completely healed.  I forgive all those concerned and I forgive myself.'

 
10.  Do this for 10 to 20 minutes or as long as you feel appropriate

 
11.  Then draw the power symbol over the paper, saying the mantra 3 times intending that the healing be sealed in.

 
12.  Repeat the process every day until the issue feels healed
 
SENDING LOVE TO INDIVIDUALS FROM PAST EVENTS

 
 
1.   Start with thinking about someone that's in your life now that you love so very deeply. Get a clear image in your mind and let your heart open wide so that you can feel the energy of your love flowing.
 
2.   Stay with this image for several minutes and feel the warmth that this love generates. Now, hold onto that feeling. 
 
3.    Picture the person or people that have hurt you deeply. You can do this exercise with one person in mind or think of all those who have hurt you and group them. This procedure is similar to sending Distant Reiki. 
 
4.    Sit comfortably and calmly. 

 

5.    If you are a Level One practitioner, go to the next stage. If you are at Level II, draw the Power Symbol and Distant Symbol in the air in front of you. If you are a Master, draw the Master Symbols, Power Symbol and Distant Symbol in the air in front of you. 
 
6.    Project the Reiki and love out from your front heart chakra like a beam flowing outside your aura. 
 
7.     Clearly imagine the person / people covered in a circle of light. 
 
8.     Intend that Reiki enters your crown chakra from above and comes down through the third eye and throat chakras to your heart chakra. 
 
9.     Recall that feeling of love and feel it well up in your heart chakra. Intend that the Reiki and love heal the past and dissolve any unwanted influence. Allow the Reiki and love to flow for as long as you are guided to do so.

News - Richard Bandler Seminar


For those of you who don't know Richard Bandler is co-founder of NLP.  I was at a seminar he gave at the beginning of May.  
 
It was a great opportunity to see the man in action.  He spoke mainly about his background but did a few demonstrations also on members from the audience.  Most of his stories are in his new book Get the Life You Want.

News - Cultivate Day 


I (as part of the Dublin Holistic Centre) was at the  3rd Cultivate Health and Yoga Day on Saturday 6th June 2009.
 
Despite the torrential downpour for the day, there was a great turnout.  We were giving mini treatments throughout the day so people could relax and unwind. 
 
There were numerous Yoga classes and even dance classes.  The atmosphere was so relaxing that the day just flew by.
 



News - Corporate Health and Wellness Day 


I recently took part in a Corporate Health and Wellness day with Fit for Life for an organisation in the City Centre.
 
I was giving 1/2 hour sessions of reiki during the day.  The participants enjoyed the reiki sessions and I think they went back to their desks a little less stressed!
 
It's great to see that Companies are still looking after their staff as I think they need it now more than ever.



News - New Website 


I'm currently revamping my reiki and life coaching website and hope to have it running within a month.  I love my current one but with a competition I won I am able to get a new one - so I'm not saying No to the Universe!  I'm saying Thank You!
 
So I will let you know when it is up and running...

Affirmations - Power in Your Words 


In the current climate, the health of our mindset is being tested.  In these times, people are worried about their business; career, finances, family, future and making ends meet.  What starts as a worry about 'will I lose my job' turns into 'no job is safe', 'I'm not going to have any money', 'what am I going to do', 'there no jobs out there', 'I'm too old to start again', 'everyone will think I'm useless', ' there's no way out'... and on and on... This is your inner voice on a rollercoaster ride - it started off with one thought which has now snowed balled into hundreds or more of negative thoughts that you probably don't know that are flying around your head.  I have noticed that more and more people are aware of these thoughts and on some level they know that all the negative statements are not true but they don't know how to get rid of them.  
 
You will not pick up a 'self help' book which does not recommend affirmations.  It's not only 'self help' books that recommend them.  I've been reading about successful businessmen/women who are at the top of their game and they all recommend affirmations as part of their daily lives.  They believe that affirmations feeds their mind with what is possible and keeps them focused on what they want to achieve and what is positive. 
 
 
What are affirmations? 

 
Often, people repeat negative statements in their minds without even being aware of what they are saying.  We all have experience of our 'inner voice' or 'gremlin' speaking to us in a negative tone.  Do you keep thinking and telling yourself that you are fat, you are stupid, you can't do something or you are going to fail?  Well these are all negative affirmations. Your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between what is real or not therefore by saying these statements to yourself your subconscious mind accepts it as true.   We find negative statements easier to believe as they usually validate our own internal negative beliefs whether these beliefs are true or false.  
 
If you were to write down all that your 'inner voice' says to you throughout the day how much of what you say is positive and how much is negative?  Would it be 25%, 50%, 75% or 95% negative?  It is reported that 90% of what we think is negative, no wonder we find ourselves struggling to remain upbeat.   Also, 90% of what we worry about never happens.  That means our negative worries have less than 10% chance of being true.  So what are you currently worrying about?  Do you believe that the worry will ever really happen?  
We use positive affirmations to challenge those negative beliefs and stop the flow of negative thoughts and words that seek to validate them. Affirmations are more than just repeating words. It is a whole process of becoming aware of your thoughts and words in everyday life, choosing to think and project happy positive thoughts.  By repeating these phrases every day we are reprogramming our mind to believe them and make them real. All of our inner dialogue, negative or positive, is a steady stream of affirmations. 
 
What do affirmations really do?

 
When repeating a positive affirmation you are reprogramming your mind.  This does not happen overnight and you may experience resistance.  The bigger the gap between the positive affirmation and the inner belief then the more likely that one is going to experience resistance during the process e.g. the inner voice may try to get you to stop saying the affirmation 'look at you, you're so stupid saying this stuff, what kind of stupid person believes this will work' etc.  This is where the subconscious will find it easier to stay with its perceived inner belief and avoid the challenge of examining the issue.  
Once you keep saying the affirmation with feeling and belief, then resistance will break.  Once broken, this forces your subconscious to re-examine the core belief patterns you have been working on.  The old belief patterns will be replaced with your own new inner beliefs.  Changing one core belief can have a domino effect on other beliefs that relied on the original negative belief.  Therefore your subconscious re-examines all your beliefs e.g. your subconscious sorts through your beliefs like going through a filing cabinet and pulling out the beliefs the no longer have the original foundation to support them.
 
Because affirmations actually reprogram your thought patterns, they change the way you think and feel about things, and because you have replaced self limiting beliefs with your own new positive empowering beliefs, positive change comes easily and naturally.

 
How can I use affirmations?

 
Besides repeating the affirmation, there are many ways to use affirmations.  I have set out a few additional ways below:
 
Use a mirror - state the affirmation while looking into a mirror.  Look yourself in the eyes when you are saying the affirmation, this will also indicate whether there is resistance to the affirmation.  
 
Write them down - this is a good way of remembering your affirmations.  Write them down each morning, put them on note card or stick them up around the house so you can keep it to the forefront of your mind.  You could also write it down 10-20 times as this helps imprint it on your mind.
 
Record them - you can find CDs of affirmations.  I record mine into my MP3 player so I can listen to them first thing in the morning, when I'm walking and just before I go to sleep as the mind processes a lot of information while you sleep.
 
Vision board - include affirmations on your vision board.  For each section or area in your life have an affirmation which relates it e.g. finding a career you love, travelling the world etc 
 
Sing them - I find affirmations easy to remember if they rhyme.  You can sing or chant the affirmation are you are walking, exercising or just hanging about and no one needs to know!
 
Put passion into it - say the affirmation with passion, the higher your emotional state as you say them, the more effective they are.
 
Create your own affirmations

 
Think of an area of your life you would like to improve.  Think about how you might want your life to be.  Be as specific as you can about this so your affirmation will be focused on these areas.  Write down the important areas you would like to change.
Take each item on the list and write out a few positive statements for each.  They must be positive and in the present tense.  Focus on what you do want, not what you don't want. Focus on the quality you wish to bring into your life. So rather than focusing on the habit or situation you wish to change, focus on what you would like to replace it with. 
Choose only positive words when describing what you really want.  If you want to get healthier, do not use an affirmation like 'I am not fat' or 'I am not eating junk food' as these statements make you think of the mental images of what you do not want.  Think about the quality you do want.  Say instead 'I am reaching my target weight healthy' or 'I am enjoying eating nourishing food that gives me more energy'.
Using the present tense and not the future tense allows your subconscious mind to start working on making the affirmation happen now rather than in the future. 

 
I like to add 'this or something else that is my divine right is currently manifesting under grace and in perfect ways' at the end of some of my affirmations.  By adding this sentence I am allowing the Universe to provide for me in whatever way is for my own highest good.

 
Exercise

 
Find somewhere to sit and relax.  Close your eyes and pay close attention to your body and how you feel.  Begin by breathing in and out at a rhythm that suits you.  Bring all your awareness to the top of your head then slowly move your awareness down through your body.  Be aware of how your body feels, is there any emotions in certain parts of the body, is their tightness etc.  
 
Now bring the attention back to the top of your head.  Now repeat to yourself 10 times 'I am a weak and unworthy person' and really get into the feeling of the words.  Once you have finished repeating this, bring your awareness through your body again, noticing any differences in emotions, tension or stress in your body.  Once you are finished bring the attention back to the top of your head.  Now repeat you yourself 10 times 'I am a strong and worthy person' and really get into the feeling of the words.  Once you have finished repeating this, bring your awareness through your body again, noticing any changes in your emotions, changes in the tension or stress in your body.
 
1.   You can also do the above exercise with a partner as you can visually see the effect of the negative and positive affirmations on the body. 
Get your partner to stand up, make a fist and extend either arm out to the side.  You stand facing them and get them to resist as much as possible as you attempt to push their arm down with your outstretched arm.  What do you notice?  Your partner's arm should remain strong.
 
2.   Get your partner to stand up and say the negative affirmation 10 times putting feeling into it.  Get them to make a fist and extend either arm out to the side.  Once again, get them to resist as much as possible as you attempt to push their arm down with your outstretched arm.  What do you notice?  Your partner's arm should easily fall once you push it.
 
3.   Now, get your partner to stand up and say the positive affirmation 10 times putting feeling into it.  Get them to make a fist and extend either arm out to the side.  Once again, get them to resist as much as possible as you attempt to push their arm down with your outstretched arm.  What do you notice?  Your partner's arm should remain strong.
 
What does this show you?  Strong words equals strong arm or strong words makes us physically strong! Therefore you can see that it does not matter whether you believe the words or not by repeating the words the mind and body believes them to be true. 
 
Introducing affirmations into your life can be rewarding and allow you to grow but it takes commitment and practice.  You don't expect to be a star golf player after one lesson, so you can't expect your entire world to change after a few days of saying affirmations.  Also, like maintaining a healthy body you must exercise the brain with positive thoughts regularly so you can feel the benefits always.
 
So make a few of your own affirmations and start taking control of our 'inner voice' today!

Spring - A Time for Cleaning and Cleansing

Hi ,
 
It feels to me that spring is finally here!  I am so glad to see these brighter mornings and longer evenings.  I'm using it as a perfect excuse to spend more time outside.  While, I was out this morning I saw my first buds of spring in purple tulips and yellow daffodils popping up over the park.  It so refreshing to see all the beautiful and bright colours covering the landscape, although I do know that a little bit of winter is still clinging on!
 
Spring is a time of renewal, new beginnings and release from the winter months.  It's also a time when you hear about spring cleaning. Yes, it's time to get out those marigold gloves and start the cleaning and cleansing process which is a great way to get rid of any negative energy in your home. 
 

Even using one or two of these techniques you should begin to see a difference in your energy levels.  We all know that hanging around with people who drain us affects our energy this is also the same for hanging around environments which drain us.  For this month, be aware of your surroundings and notice the impact that these environments have on you.  


 
So enjoy your spring cleaning and cleansing!

As we all know, you home can gather dust and dirt no matter how much you clean them but they can also accumulate energetic debris.  This debris can leave you feeling tired, lethargic and leaves a general feeling of bad energy in the house.  Also if we don't clear the negative energy, like dirt, it will continue to gather and create even more negative energy which can impact your health, finances, career and your emotional body.  Space cleansing will help you feel more comfortable in your home and allow you to maintain a positive state of mind.  If we are using reiki in our lives and want to increase our energy levels then we also need to be aware of how our surroundings are affecting us.  

 
So how does your home affect you?  How can you tell if a room is energetically messy?  In reiki you learned to listen to your body so you can feel blocks, well you can also use this awareness to feel the affect certain places have on you.  Have you ever been to a place where you just love to spend time?  It could a particular room in your house or someone else's home.  Close your eyes and go back to that feeling - is there a difference between that and your own home or room?  The best way to feel the energy in the room is to spend time in it before you clean.  How do you feel in the room? Does the space relax you?  Does the environment make you calm? Does your mind start thinking of negative things?  Could you sleep peacefully in the room?  Do you like to spend time in the room? 
  
 
Once you clean the room, physically and energetically, go back into the rooms and feel the difference in the energy.  Can you notice the difference - Could you now meditate or spend reflective time in this room? 
 
Of course, the main starting point is to clear the house from top to toe.  Get rid of anything that might tie you to the past.  You'd be surprised at what you might find in the darkest corner of your home.  A friend of mine recently found a box of mementoes she had from a past relationship, it was under her bed - no wonder she was having nightmares!  She dumped it out as she wanted to make sure she was not tied herself to the past.  By clearing all that the things we hoard or 'things I might need when...' means we are making way for new things to come into our lives.  We are showing the universe that we have cleared the clutter to make way for new beginnings.


 
CLEANSING TECHNIQUES FOR YOUR HOME



There are many techniques to cleanse a room, you can use one or more of the following: 

 
Power Symbol - In each room in every corner, draw the Power Symbol and say its name three times after setting an intention of removing all negative energy from the room.  Your intention could be 'I use the power symbols (smudging) to cleanse all negativity from my home, I ask for full clearance of my home now'. 

 


Smudging - Put sage into a bowl or shell and light it, blow out the flame and let the leaves smoulder.  You can carry the bowl around the house ensuring that the smoke covers all of the room.  Pay special attention to the corners of the room.  As sage has quiet a strong smell, you can open the windows and visualise the negative energy being released in the air.  You can also set your intention using the same phrase above.
 




Feng Shui - If your home has a lot of electromagnetic fields (most homes do) e.g. computers, TV, microwave ovens, electric heaters, cookers and photocopiers you may want to lessen the affects of these waves.  Exposure to these fields distorts your own chi which can affect your physical and emotional well-being.  Plants such as peace lily, spider plant and cereus peruvianuf can help reduce the adverse effects of EMF.  You can put these near the source of the waves or somewhere within the room.  The good news is that most of these plants don't need much watering or looking after so if you don't have green fingers you could still keep them! 




 
Sound - Sound waves ripple outwards through the air, stirring up the energy.  This will move the old energy some of it will flow out the window, leaving space for more fresh energy to enter.  You can chant, ring bells or clap.  At home I like to use hand bells which I ring in all corners and anywhere that dust usually collects.  In my treatment room, I like to clap while letting out a powerful quick breath to get the energy moving quickly in all corners of the room. 
 
Essences - There are many Space Clearing essences available that you can spray around your home.  You can also use these when you are preparing your treatment room for reiki.  You can spray them around the room once again focusing on the corners.



 
Sea Salts - Sea salt is helpful for cleansing energy and stabilising the flow of energy through our body or home.  Sprinkle some sea salt on the floor or doorways before you go to bed and hoover it up the next day and throw it out of your home. 

 


Visualization - visualisation is a simple tool to use to clear the space you live in.   

Find a comfortable place to sit.  
Take a few deep breaths and ground yourself.  
Draw whatever symbols you are attuned to in all corners of the room or home.  
Visualise a column of white light being brought down from the Universe into the middle of the room.  See this column start to spin in a clockwise direction.  
As it spins it begins to gather any negative energy in the room.  Then see this column expand out into the room and all corners, gathering any residual energy that is in the room.  
Once the column of light has cleared the space, see the column shrinking until it is in the middle of the room again.  
You can visualise the column of white light being encased in blue sealing energy and handed to angels.  The angels take the energy away and transform it into healing energy for the earth.


 
TECHNIQUES TO FILLING THE SPACE


 
Once the house has been cleared, you don't want the negative energy filling it up again.  So you need to fill the house with new energy.


 
Visualisation 
This is a very powerful visualization that actually will affect you as well because the energy that you use to clear the house will also pass over and through you.



Visualize a grounding cord being attached to the foundation of your house and see it extending deep into the Earth.  See it wrap itself around the centre of the Earth. 

 Visualize a golden ball of energy like a small sun in the centre of your home.

 See the sun expanding gradually until it fills the entire house and every room in the house.  Allow this energy to also surround you. 
Expand the ball of energy until it surrounds the outside of your house so it covers all oyur surroundings e.g. garden, garages etc.  See the energy expanding above the house and below the house also. 
 Now visualise a thick wall of violet light surrounding the golden sun.  The violet light seals the gold light, keeping all negative energy from penetrating its wall. 

State an affirmation: The ball of violet light will protect my home from any negative energies and entities.  I ask that my home and grounds be filled with golden light from the Universal Source and only that which is divine in nature be allowed to enter.


 
CLEANSING TECHNIQUES TO CLEANSE YOURSELF


 
You could also apply the spring cleanse to your body.  We are beings of energy and our aura is like a sponge so where you go, so too does all the negativity that you've come into contact with. There is no point in trying to cleanse your home if you are walking around carrying a weight of negativity.  By allowing yourself and your home to be cleansed the space is created for new awareness and new direction to begin to take its place. You can use the following to cleanse your body:


 
Sea salt bath- run a bath and put 3-4 handfuls of sea salt into the water.  Draw the power symbol over the water and state your intention - 'to release all negative energy from your field'.  Even better, if you can take a leap into the ocean


 
Crystals -The main protection crystals are Citrine, Carnelian, Phenacite and Topaz.  Remember to clean them every now and then by leaving them to soak overnight in a bowl of sea salt and spring water. You can also use the reiki symbols on them.


 
Morning Protection/Cleanse- Ask Archangel Michael to place a protective energy shield around you at the start of every day to protect you from any negative energy that you may come in contact with.  You can ask Michael to make the energy shield blue or gold depending on what level of protection you want (let your intuition guide you).  
 
You can also visualise any of the following shields:


White Light-this is for protection 

Pink Light - this is for unconditional love 

Purple light- this is to guard you against Psychic Attack.  Use it where you are experiencing jealousy or resentment from individuals and/or feel your energy being drained

Mirror shield - Use this to reflect negativity away and transmute it into love.

Armour shield- this is the strongest shield against very dark energy or chaos.
 
 
Smudging - Sit on a chair and place the bowl of smudge smoke to waft over your body.

 
Meditation - Before going to bed each night ask Archangel Michael to clear and cut away any negative or lower based energies that might have attached to you during the day. Then ask Archangel Raphael to fill you with green healing light. Use your imagination to feel this green healing light flow through your entire body and fill your heart to overflowing.  Allow any excess energy to be drained down through your body and out through your feet into the earth.
