2009 - OPEN YOURSELF TO NEW POSSIBILITIES

Hi , 

Firstly I'd like to wish you a Happy New Year!  I hope you had a
great Christmas and enjoyed the New Year celebrations.  I've had a
great holiday with my family and enjoyed getting to catch up with
great friends.  Like most people, I enjoyed the time off to relax
and eat all the great homebaking my mother does!  It only seems
like yesterday I was relaxing with the tin of sweets watching TV. 
Now, I am back into work mode and am enjoying thinking about what I
want to achieve this year - I get great satisfaction ticking of my
goals (big or small) during the year!     

So  have you thought about what you want from 2009?
 If you don't know what you want or where you are going, how will
you know when you get there?  It's a brand new year, one where you
can choose to chase a few of those dreams or ideas you have!  So
let's get putting pen to paper and start creating that path for you
to walk this year.  Goal setting shouldn't be dreaded, it's a time
to let your ideas flow, to open your mind to all possibilities. 
Reach out and grab your future don't wait for it to come knocking
on your door!  I've got my goal list ready for 2009 and I'm looking
forward to achieving them.  Yes, some are challenging and will take
me out of my comfort zones but the reward is worth so much more
than the pain!  So  let's get you started... 

I hope this newsletter gives you plenty ideas on how to start the
goal setting process and how you can use Reiki to energise your
goals.  I'd be delighted to hear how you get on with your goal
setting and progress during the year.  Let 2009 be the year where
you reclaim your power and be the best you can be.

REIKI AND GOAL SETTING 

WHAT IS A GOAL? 

"Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality.  If
you can dream it, you can make it also" - Belva Davis, Broadcast
Journalist. 

A goal is something that you want, something that is very important
to YOU.  The goal must be compelling for you so that you will take
action to achieve it.  If it is not important to you, why are you
willing to put your energy into it and why do you want it?  If it
is someone else's dream be careful as you could end up living a
life that you don't want.  Imagine working towards a goal only to
realise at the end that it was something that YOU did not want but
someone else did.  Yet imagine putting that focus and effort into
something you truly do want.  Imagine what you could achieve! 

 if you have a goal that seems too big, chunk it
down into smaller bits that way you are creating stepping stones
towards your dream and along the way you can keep yourself
motivated with the small (but important) steps.  If you want, you
can focus your goal on something you want to achieve or change in
the next 12 months.    


VITAL TIPS FOR GOAL SETTING

Specific 

Goals should be straight forward and state what you want to happen.
For example, if you want to lose weight don't just say that you
want to lose weight be specific.  Write down if you want to lead a
healthier life style, lower your cholesterol, walk 20 minutes a day
three times a week, eat healthier food, take up swimming or
anything that YOU want to do in order to lose weight and be
healthy.  Also think about the underlying value of your goal.  If
you are saying you want to be healthy, what does being healthy
means to you?  Be as descriptive as you can by writing down exactly
what you want to achieve e.g. I am now swimming 2 days a week, I am
now enjoying my weekly yoga class, exercising is so much fun, my
clothes fit me perfectly, my body is in healthy condition, I love
eating fresh fruit and vegetables, I have so much energy now that I
can run around with my kids.  Also, the description will keep you
motivated along your way.  

Measurable 

Choose a goal with measurable progress so you have something to
measure it against.  How will you know when you have achieved it,
how will you know when you are happy with it, how will you feel
etc. Remember also, that you shouldn't be comparing your goals or
your journey towards them against other people.  Each person has
their own unique perception of reality therefore the only person
you can compare yourself to, is the "you" of last week, last month,
last year.  When you are looking at your goals and monitoring your
progress ask yourself - how far have you come in past week,
month(s).  Remember to praise yourself for the progress you have
made also.  You could treat yourself to a relaxing bath, your
favourite candles, some flowers or whatever you'd like.  It is
great to keep focused on where you are going, but knowing how far
you have come will also keep you motivated for the rest of the
journey. 

Achievable 

All your goals should be achievable which means that they should be
within the bounds of possibility for you.  A goal needs to
challenge you slightly so you feel you can do it and you can truly
commit to it.  For example, if you aim to lose 3 stone in a week,
we all know that this isn't achievable.  But if you aim to lose 1lb
the first week, when you've achieved that, you can aim to lose a
further 1lb.  The feeling of success in the first week will help
you to remain motivated. 

Realistic 

This provides the check on achievable.  Going back to the above
example is it achievable for someone to lose 3 stone in one week? 
Realistic means is it 'do-able'.  This is also why you break the
main goal down into smaller steps so you have the map of how to get
to your end goal and can celebrate your successes along the way!  

Timed 

Set a clear time frame for the goal e.g. for next week, in a month,
in 3 months, in 6 months, in a year etc. whatever fits in with your
goal.  Putting a timeframe gives you a clear target to work
towards.  If you don't set a timeframe you may procrastinate as you
can feel you can start anytime.  Have you ever heard yourself say -
'when I buy new runners I'll start, after this busy period is
finished I'll start, tomorrow I'll start'.  Without a time limit
there is no urgency to start now.    


YOUR OWN PERSONAL GOALS 

Ask yourself what it is you want so much that it brings a huge
smile to your face just thinking about it. When writing your goal
use the present tense as it is important to behave as if you
already have your goal.  You can constantly edit, reword, remove
and add goals from your list - this keeps them in line with your
beliefs and values and ensures that they are congruent with all
areas of your life.  

 
REIKI AND GOAL SETTING 

If you are attuned to any level of Reiki, you can send reiki to
your goals.  

Take a moment for yourself, sit in a comfortable position.  Do your
grounding exercise and set your intention for the meditation e.g.
'My intention is to allow reiki to flow to my goals, these goals or
something better are manifesting for me now in perfect ways and for
my higher good'. 

Write down your goals including the description of how you will
feel and know you have achieved it.  I also write on mine 'that
this or something better is currently manifesting for me in perfect
ways'.  This way if the goal is not meant for me  I know that
something else is manifesting for my higher good.
Draw the power symbol, Cho Ku Ray symbol and Hon Sha Za Sho Nen in
front and back of the page (If you are attuned to Level 2 use the
power symbol).  
Send reiki to your goals for at least 5 to 10 minutes.  Notice any
thoughts that come into your head at this time, you may receive
ideas on how to manifest your goal or what action you could take.  

When you have finished sending reiki to your goals, put the goals
in a box.  You can also send reiki to this box for 5 minutes.  You
can take this box out and look at your goals whenever you need to. 
You can send reiki to your goals on a regular basis. 

Give thanks to Reiki. 

If you find or feel that you are blocked, you can draw or
visualise, the distance healing symbol over yourself, and say... 'I
now send reiki to the part of myself that needs to heal in order
for me to achieve ______'.  Give reiki to yourself, be open and
listen and watch for answers.  If your goal is for your higher good
you will receive healing and/or shown the lesson you need to
achieve your goal.  If your goal is not meant for you, then you may
also receive guidance on how you need to change your goal or be
provided with a new idea/goal that reasonates with your higher self.

Remember that although sending Reiki to your goals is attaching
great energy to them and giving you an opportunity to focus on your
dreams and goals you also need to take action.  The universe can
provide us with our dreams and passions but we need to take action.
We all have the free will to choose to sit back and see what
happens or take a few steps to get the ball rolling.  Once the ball
starts rolling, who knows where the journey might end and what you
might find and learn along the way!

I hope you take the time to use Reiki on your goals and enjoying
working towards something you desire.

MASTER PRACTITIONER 

I will be completing my Master Practitioner of NLP training with
Betty Cosgrave on the 17th January.  This has been an exciting
period for me as I have learnt even more skills with which I can
facilitate people with.  The Master Practitioner enabled me to take
the tools & techniques which I learned in the Life Coaching & NLP
Practitioner Course to another deeper level.  It's amazing to know
and see what changing the way you think/behave can achieve.
