This email came from a couple. Both have been 100 percent raw for
Tonya! I'm at my wits end! We went to give blood today and my iron
count has dropped to 35. Last time it was 37--one point below where
it should be in order to donate. The strange thing is, my husband's
was also 35. His iron count has always been fine.
Our main focus for our green smoothies is kale, spinach, chard and
other greens. We also eat raisins and hemp seeds.
They tell me at the blood center that watermelon is a good source.
Yet I drink watermelon juice by the quart! I've referred back to
your Beautiful On Raw book and just can't figure out what we're
doing wrong! I do get tired in the evening, around 8 or 8:30, so
there's obviously something that's not right. Any comments?
This email brought to mind an incident which took place back in
2001 after my last hip replacement operation. My blood test showed
I had low iron. The intern brought me the news and offered a pill.
Just out of surgery, I was more than usually inclined to believe
"doctor knows best." I dutifully swallowed the pill. My body
promptly rejected it, and out it came.
The doctor, rather an old school type, came into the room right
about then. "Doctor, this patient has low iron," the intern
announced in alarm. The doctor leaned down and took my hand in his.
He studied my fingernails for a moment and announced with

exposing the dangers of root canal therapy and similar dental
practices. The information Dr. Gammal presents is compelling. It's
invaluable for those wanting to prevent the sometimes catastrophic
results of root canal surgeries. Watching Rooted had me composing
my own eulogy--seven root canals done in Russia before I was 30
means I should at least be hovering near death.
Many health promoters warn you about the dangers of medical
procedures such as removing organs and installing artificial parts.
Make no mistake, this information is great for encouraging people
to take care of their health and avoid surgeries, medical or
dental. Many times the focus is on prevention--very important for
those of us who haven't yet made major mistakes. But what if these
warnings come too late for you?
What if you've already had your thyroid or gallbladder removed? Or
had a hysterectomy? What if you already have several root canals or
missing teeth? These articles can be depressing for people in such
situations. Let me share with you what I've learned about
But first...shouldn't you want to learn from someone with perfect
teeth? Why listen to someone like me, who's lived through every
imaginable ordeal in a dentist's chair, endured every dental
nightmare by the time I was 30?
I'm the voice of experience--that's why. Someone equipped with
perfect healthy teeth won't know what to tell you about
high-maintenance prevention and damage reversal, because they've
never experienced the damage in the first place. I have.
With the enormous childhood dental damage I've had to overcome,
I've learned what to do, what not to do, and how to be fastidious
with my dental care. No choice for me! I had to learn how to attack
potential trouble from every angle. You may not have to be as
thorough. But even if you do some of the things I recommend, you
can still reverse some problems that have already begun to crop up
and most assuredly prevent others.
Many raw foods advocates do address dental care. If you haven't had
any root canals done, then I suggest you listen to their advice.
You'll learn a lot from these raw foods promoters about staying
happy, dentally speaking. But if you do have root canals, if you're
a new or experienced raw foodist who is challenged in the dental
arena, then do, with all your heart and mind, tune in to me...
The time has come for those ambitious New Year's Resolutions tomake their appearance once again. It's always the same thing. Lose
that extra weight. Eat better. Join your local gym. Quit smoking,
cut out coffee, stop eating at night. There's something about a
brand new year that inspires us to turn over a new leaf, create a
brand new life...A great way to start a new year is to make a life changing commitment:
"I will listen not to what I want to hear, but to what I need to know."
