1. How Old Are You?
Several months ago, I walked into an office of a new dentist, the
very dentist who inspired me to write my ebook The Raw Food Diet
and Your Compromised Teeth
. He asked me my age. As I was about to
say it, my mind went blank. You know I have no problems telling my
age--it's right there on my website's home page. But it's different
with doctors. When they ask your age, they want to assess where you
are in your race to your final destination. The answer I was about
to give my doctor simply didn't ring true to me. As I was dealing
with the disparity between how I felt and the set of ailments he
would attribute to someone being over 50, all I could think was: Am
I really that old? My hesitation and the puzzled look on my face
must have amused him. "It's okay," he said, presuming I was some
Russianized Southern belle reluctant to state her age. "Just tell
me approximately."

If you are a long term or even an aspiring raw foodist, you
understand how absurd it is to cook your food. You have a clear
perspective. You understand you cannot possibly improve on raw
food, offered freely to you, by fooling with it. You understand
that medication cannot, ultimately, cure anything. You understand
that curing requires reversing the cause of symptoms, which
sometimes includes reliving those same symptoms.

You can see a birthday cake for what it is: not an expression of
love, but a mass of unpalatable refined, foodless, acid-forming
ingredients such as flour and white sugar, molded and decorated,
then tucked into a hot oven to destroy any remnant of nutritive
value that might have possibly remained.

But how do you view the act of celebrating a birthday itself? Let's
get a true perspective on these commemorated events as well. When
we say Happy Birthday! are we not, in a way, saying: Let us
celebrate your aging...? Is this not a countdown towards the grave?
Are we not reaffirming a person's belief in death?

If you believe in "getting older," then your body activates certain
hormones. Your rate of degeneration depends on the firmness of your
belief in aging and death. If you see life as a race toward the
casket, there is no way you can slow down aging, even with the best
of diets.

I turned 52 this January. I decided from then on I would count my
years backwards. Care to join me? Of course, we will have to tell
the numerical truth in some official situations. And I will still
have to display my chronological age on my website. But I've
decided I'm going to treat this as an illusion. My "real" age will
actually start getting younger.

One of the newer ideas in science:  the real building blocks of
matter may be...vibrations. Our thoughts, our feelings and beliefs
are vibrations. For each thought, feeling, emotion, and belief we
create within our bodies, there is the physical equivalent.

Think of someone you love...and your body changes. Think of something
you dislike intensely...your body again has changed. At any given
moment, your body is undergoing some dynamic changes all because of
your current thoughts. Hormones are secreted. Neurochemicals are
released. Your immune system is being manipulated.

"Every thought you have is energy (thought = information) of a
certain frequency. The visible world is the invisible organization
of energy."
                                                              ---Heinz Pagels, physicist

Vibrations are invisible--inherently so. Watch the marvelously
complex patterns developing when you turn on a Vita-Mix to make a
green smoothie. You may think these are vibrations, but they're
not. Rather, they're the physical manifestation of vibration.
They're greens and fruits under the effect of vibration. But
vibration itself? Completely invisible. The same is true of any
kind of energy. We see--always--the result of the energy, never
energy itself. Yet we know it's there.

You have the power within you to reverse your body's aging. How?
Let's start with a change in attitude. Purge the word old from your
vocabulary. Seed instead the concept of not aging.

Stop celebrating of your birthdays--well maybe that's a bit hard.
How about stop at least celebrating them in the "Bob's getting older,"
count-those-candles kind of way that most of us do--for this only
gives credence to the aging process. If it pleases you to
acknowledge the anniversary of your birth, do so, but reverse the
count of your years and become younger.

Let us say your desire is to grow younger. Then desire it with
every cell of your body. Let these thoughts fill your being. They
must be strong enough to win over all the other thoughts you are
having. And forget those ideas of pre-paid funeral
arrangements--that's investing in your death, not your life.

The body listens to your thinking. It's willing, given negative
messages from you, to prepare for its own death by getting sick and
decrepit. If "getting older" is a big part of your reality, then
the brain activates certain hormones in the body, and the body
begins to degenerate according to your concept of aging. The more
thoroughly you feel--and make your body feel--the desire to stay
youthful, the more thoroughly your body will follow that desire.

German physicist Max Planck won a Nobel Prize in physics. He
discovered that, for anything that happens in an interval of less
than
10-43 seconds, time effectively disappears. It's called Planck
time. So you see: Quantum physics already supports the idea that,
on an elementary level, time doesn't exist. The rest is up to us--to
shift our paradigm and think "unthinkable" rules.

You have likely heard about a technique some physicians suggest to
cancer patients. They are guided to imagine cancer cells being
overtaken by white blood cells. And it works, often very
effectively. We can use a similar technique to ward off aging.

I want you to try something. While in a state of deep relaxation,
begin the visualization process. Imagine energy moving freely
throughout the body. Then imagine every cell vibrating at a high
frequency. Picture your body rejuvenating itself, and yourself
becoming more youthful, beautiful.

Don't try this at night, or you'll find yourself so energized, it
will be impossible to fall asleep. Try to spend five or ten minutes
every morning upon awakening, "raising your body's frequency," and
see how invigorated you will feel all day. This practice will
literally make you younger on the cellular level. To learn more
about this quantum world we occupy, check out my book
Quantum Eating.

Bit of a change in this newsletter--for once I'm not banging that
Raw Foods Rah Rah! message. After all, Mother's Day is coming up.
And we don't want to hit mom with a harangue on her special day.

As Mother's Day approaches, it occurs to me: One of the hardest
experiences in life is to see your mother aging. And yet, for some
of us, it's close to impossible to convince our moms to go raw.
Don't bug her with that this weekend. Instead, make her feel good.
Alive. Positive--and young again. Your mom's chronological age is
what it is, but that's just numbers. Encourage your mom to forget
chronology and think herself "young!"

2. Beauty Tips
#1: Strawberry hair mask

Along with following a balanced raw food diet to nourish your hair
from the inside, here is a simple hair masque you might like to try
at home to deliver an even more powerful boost of rich, glossy
shine...the Strawberry Hair Mask:

Mash eight strawberries with a tablespoon each of lemon juice and
coconut oil. Massage the mixture into your washed, still-damp hair.
Cover it with a shower cap and then a warm towel for fifteen
minutes. Wash out with a shampoo and then condition. This mask will
give your hair a rich gloss.

#2: For silky, smooth legs

Now that spring is well under way, you may be wanting to get those
legs in tip top shape for shorts and skirts. Try applying a thin
layer of Your Right to Be Beautiful Revitalizing Conditioner as a
shaving gel in the bath or shower. It provides a comfortable and
close shave, is pH balanced, and the rich emollients will leave
your skin smooth and conditioned.

Dry Skin Remedies

It was downright unnerving! Out of the blue, the skin on the tips of
my right hand became dry, red, wrinkled and scaling. The condition
faded over the next few days, but came back with a vengeance,
especially on my right thumb. I'd apply some moisturizer on my
fingers, only to discover they need more moisturizer minutes later.
This went on for several weeks. What on earth was the cause?

Eye Area Skin Care

"How come you don't have any wrinkles?" People often ask me point
blank. I'm "supposed to" have wrinkles. After all--I'm over 50.
Specifically, they mean the area around the eyes, one of the first
places the telltale signs of aging will show on a woman's face. The
surprising truth, however, is that crows' feet and wrinkles around
the eyes may less mark age than they indicate sun damage,
dehydration and weak muscle tone. Continue reading Eye Area

Raw Food and Hot Yoga Testimonials (Dec. 2009)

I am on Day 9 [Rawsome Flex] and wanted to mention that before
starting these exercises, I was losing hair at an alarming rate,
when I combed my hair when I got out of the shower you could knit a
sweater, there was so much left in the comb. I believe it is the
hair pulling exercise which helps, I do it quite a lot throughout
the day and now there is very little in my comb! The color in my
skin is also much better and I am brave enough to go out without
foundation and blush, a real breakthrough...

That Puffy Face: Causes and Solutions

Mornings, for some, are a discouraging part of the day. Waking up
can be hard enough...and then you look in the mirror. "Whoa!" you
say. "What happened?" You can try a cold washcloth, as I have. But
it only goes so far to bring down the puffiness in your face.
