1. My Thanksgiving Gift to You

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving...Holidays coming...No doubt about it--this is a tough
time
of year for us raw food folks. You're bound to be asking: Do I have
to be a hundred percent raw?

No--you don't. Of course you know already that you'd best come as
close to perfectly raw in your eating as you can. The same goes for
your family. If you're like me, you'll have lots of relatives
around who'll be trying to get you to go their way when it comes to
holiday food enjoyment...yet they would prefer to see you simply go
away rather than listening to your raw food message.

Do not get discouraged! I believe a message about raw foods is
never wasted. So I'll tirelessly present it from every possible
angle. The message remains in the person, similar to a seed that's
not yet ready to germinate. And one day, when the time is right,
that seed will sprout. The seed swells and springs open. Something
happens, perspective shifts and the mind becomes receptive and
ready to embrace the message and grow with it. Truth comes to those
who have prepared themselves to accept it.

Do you need some extra motivation to stay on the raw foods wagon
yourself? Or do you need a better way to convey the message to
friends and family?

In either case, here's a little Thanksgiving gift from me to you.
It's my new 5-minute video offering a fresh, unique take on the
question Why eat raw... It's called Raw Food Rocks, and it's both
scientific and entertaining. I hope it gives you a motivational
boost. And it may well be just the message one of your friends or a
loved one needs to hear.

Watch it yourself...share it with friends...and Happy Thanksgiving!

2. Skin Treatments: What are Your Options?

Derma peels...laser resurfacing...chemical skin treatments...Many
people
are willing to do nearly anything for the sake of good-looking skin
and often ask me about new, exotic and costly treatments.

One of the vivid memories of my younger years is my mom's swollen
face as she was recovering from a phenol or TCA peel. Once the face
healed she did look better, but only for a little while. Then...off
she'd go for another peel. Even as a youngster, I knew something
wasn't right there, and I swore I'd never do it when I grew up. And
now, sadly, my mom is paying for all the damage she did to her
skin. She's 72, and, while you'd expect some wrinkling, you
wouldn't expect this much.

What's involved in these special procedures? Let's take a look...

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of
facial skin by "burning" the outer layers. With the outer layer
gone, some of the facial blemishes are gone too. But not for long
because the reason for their appearance in the first place has not
been eliminated.

The Derma Peel procedure uses controlled vacuum and pressure to
move microscopically abrasive crystals over the skin, abrading the
skin's outer layer. The promise of Derma Peel: When you repeat this
process several times over several weeks or months, younger softer
skin moves to the surface, revealing significant textural and color
improvements. The weeks-to-months time frame is understandable--this
is how long it takes for the new skin cells to develop and move to
the surface, naturally.

Consider the pattern here, in both kinds of procedures: It's your
own body that's producing new cells. How the outer layer gets
removed--barring the extreme--really doesn't matter.

There are some even more sophisticated ways to inflict injury on
the skin. Beyond chemicals, you can opt for laser treatments, or
procedures involving applications of extreme heat or cold. Numerous
options are available now, and you can expect ever more ingenious
devices to appear in the future. All these new skin renewing
methods base themselves on an old idea: inducing repair by
stripping the outer layer of skin, "tricking" the body into
producing new cells and making new collagen.

One central truth--only your own body can rejuvenate your skin.
Collagen is produced by the dermis, the skin's lowest layer. Your
dermis, when slightly stimulated, can restart the production of
collagen, which is the cornerstone of healthy skin. Our aim,
therefore, should be to create this stimulation, using the most
natural, least invasive procedure possible. I strongly believe our
skin needs daily simulation, but without ever reaching the point of
injury. Dry brushing is an ideal home remedy.
http://www.beautifulonraw.com/Facial_Dry_Brushing_Exfoliate_Your_Face.html

Regular dry brushing induces the same wound-healing response and
increased collagen production. It can lead to smoother, brighter
looking skin every day, without the fading effects usually
unavoidable with an 'in-office' peel or abrasion procedures.

You could try highly exotic, expensive skin rejuvenation systems or
"wrinkle reduction" methods, such as chemical peels, carbon dioxide
laser resurfacing or even the diamond microderm abrasion machine.
But make no mistake: There are risks. For example, with phenol
there is always the risk that your skin could lose its ability to
make pigment. You would then always have to protect it carefully
from the sun. Keep in mind, too, that high levels of laser and heat
energy can end up damaging your skin more than helping it. Some
skin treatments require a mild sedative to relieve pain during
treatment. Drugs--any drugs--are never good for your health and
beauty.

Finally, do understand that all these treatments are temporary. Not
only are they temporary, they are often expensive--cosmetologist
office treatments can easily cost from $50 to $500 or more, time
after time.

So you face two kinds of choices...Door number one: Costly
treatments that work only for a short time, carrying the risk of
pain and even permanent damage. Door number two: An easy, enjoyable
natural treatment tool--my dry skin brush--comes FREE with our Cream
Special, a treatment that's gentle, enjoyable, risk-free, a treatment
you control, on your schedule. Best of all--it gives high-quality
results, as fine as any cosmetologist can deliver.

Hair Care Products: Aren't We Supposed to Switch?

I am delighted whenever a testimonial comes in, by e-mail or
letter, from customers enjoying the results of my hair care
products and recommended regimen. Occasionally, though, someone
asks: "But shouldn't I be switching shampoo and conditioner
brands?"...

Transitional Raw Food Recipes (Nov. 2010)

No Thanksgiving menu would be complete without the addition of
November's seasonal produce taking center stage, such as parsnips,
sweet potatoes and cranberries, and of course, nuts. Do you think
you will miss those old holiday standbys or be tempted to indulge?
Have no fear, there is a delicious raw food replacement for many of
your former favorites that will not let you down...

Raw Food Testimonials (October 2010)

10/25/10

Tonya,
In response to the person who accused you of eating too little - I
find that since I've improved my quality of food AND my digestion,
I don't want (or need) as much food as I did before. A small amount
now satisfies me. But paradoxically, I actually have much more
energy than I did before...

Supplements Versus Raw Foods

Our entire culture has embraced supplements, indeed is leaning
increasingly toward them. How many people do you know who start off
their days with a multivitamin, a calcium tablet, an iron tablet,
perhaps separate doses of vitamins A, B, C, D and on down the
alphabet? Maybe you're one of these people. Vitamin dosing is a
normal practice for many who consider themselves "health
conscious."...

B-12 Controversy

Let's take a look at the vitamin B-12 controversy. The term vitamin
B-12 is a generic for a group of compounds known as cobalamins.
There are three forms of B12--cyanocobalamin, methylcobalamin, and
hydroxycobalamin--found naturally, most often in healthy soils...

4. Win Prizes from Beautiful On Raw!

You may know that, recently, I goofed. I sent out an accidental
duplicate of my September newsletter. I felt bad about that--we all
have about as much junk in our email in-boxes as we can find on
food store shelves. I felt especially bad for those of my
subscribers who've been with me since my first newsletter in 2006.
They know I try my darnedest to show respect for their time and
privacy, and that my newsletter should come only once a month.
Thanks to all of you who wrote back and expressed their
understanding. I'll make every effort for that not to happen again.
I keep my best material for my newsletter, to give you cutting-edge
information and tons of inspiration to ease your journey to
superior health.

My goof got me thinking...I'd like to do even more for my readers...

I want to give away 3 items from our store every month. Here's how
it's going to work...From our subscribers list of about 10,000
people, we'll pull out three names at random. Every month, the
three people whose names we draw will receive a gift.

Here's what you need to do to get in on the deal...

1.     Read the newsletter--Yeah, there's a catch, and this is it.
If you see your name and partial email address, please email us
at info@beautifulonraw.com. Yes, you need to look--we won't be
sending you a notification.

2.     If you're listed as a winner, make your selection from the
three items offered. For example, in one month's newsletter, we may
offer your choice of a jar of facial cream, facial masque, or a
copy of Quantum Eating. You choose the gift you prefer. Make sure,
too, that you give us your preferred postal mailing address.

3.     Once you email your selection, you'll receive your gift in a
few days. Then...Enjoy!

Deadline: We ask only that you email us, if your name
appears in any month's newsletter, before the following month's
newsletter appears.

Rules: We reserve the right to terminate this offer at
any time. The offer is not transferable, and is void where
prohibited.

The lottery starts next month! Watch for your name in
the winner section of the December newsletter!
