After a spiritually invigorating two months hiatus at our home base in Austin, Texas we are back on the road again today to resume our travelling and preaching. Our first stop is in London where I will be giving the Sunday feast lecture at ISKCON's Hare Krishna temple on Soho street in downtown London. From there we will proceed to India to Sri Vrindavan dhama to purify our hearts in the Lord's transcendental abode and to New Delhi for a series of lectures at the ISKCON temples there. Then it will be back to eastern Europe for many ecstatic weeks of distributing the nectar of Krishna's mercy to many eager recipients there.

Why do we do this at such great inconvenience? Srila Prabhupada describes that a sincere devotee after his initiation by the Lord or His bona fide representative, takes very seriously chanting of the glories of the Lord and traveling all over the world so that others may also hear the glories of the Lord. Although I consider myself to be lacking in sincerity and also lacking in so many other good qualities, still I am trying my best to please my spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada, by propagating the Krishna consciousness movement as far as possible all over the world. On this auspicious day of resuming our traveling and preaching, I am humbly falling at the feet of my most beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, begging for his mercy that my feeble efforts to please him by spreading this movement may be crowned with glorious success.

Question: Religion and Spiritualism

I have been reading regularly "Thought for the Day" and firmly believe in God, Krishna. In a friendly debate my friend argued with me that spiritualism has nothing to do with religion. Only religion is God and following religion is God. My plea was that spiritual wakefulness or development leads to the attainment of God. Your advise on this subject will enhance my knowledge.

Answer: The Means and the End

Since, according to the dictionary, spiritualism is the quality or state of being spiritual, and since according to it's Latin word origin religion is the process of re-linking with or reviving one's intrinsic spiritual nature, religion is the practical technique for attaining the state of spiritualism. In short, religion is the means, and spiritualism is the end.
