Merry
Christmas to all of you! I pray this
newsletter finds all of you winding down your Christmas preparations and
getting ready to truly enjoy your time with family and friends. We also are winding down our preparations -
except for the gift wrapping. My kids
have gotten older and are staying up later these days - making wrapping their
presents without their knowledge a lot more difficult. By the end of the day I am ready to fall into
bed - not ready to start wrapping gifts. I think I need to be a little more creative or start getting presents
wrapped before I even bring them into the house.
This
last week I received a complimentary shipment of Soy Curls from Dan Butler of
Butler Foods. I love Soy curls and love
creating new recipes and ways to use these awesome products. Dan was so gracious to provide me a huge box
of them to keep trying unique ways to incorporate these into my recipes. Soy Curls are made from select certified
Non-GMO soybeans grown without chemical pesticides. The soy beans are soaked in spring
water. Then the soybeans are cooked and
delicately textured after which they are dried at low temperature thus ensuring
the natural goodness of the whole soybean high in fiber and omega-3. Soy Curls(TM) are one of the most pure,
healthful products on the market containing no chemicals, additives, or
preservatives. Of all the
meat-alternative products available on the market I truly believe that Soy
Curls are the only product available which is a whole, plant-based food made
with great ingredients - non-GMO soy beans - with a minimum of processing -
making them a great choice for my family's diet! Soy Curls are so incredibly easy to work with
and versatile that they have become a great way for me to add a high protein,
high fiber ingredient to some of my favorite recipes. Dan also included some Chicken style
seasoning which we have all found delicious as well. You can order Soy Curls directly from Butler
foods or you can check with your local health food store. If your local store doesn't carry Soy Curls,
ask them to.
Besides
the fact that I just received a new box of Soy Curls in the mail, I am
including more information about them in this newsletter because they have
become a tradition in our house on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve we attend our church's
worship service and then come home to a very relaxed meal - and believe it or
not that meal has become a Soy Curl melt sandwich modeled after a BBQ sandwich
my family fell in love with on a camping trip years and years ago. We refer to it as a Non-pig melt - and you
can read the recipe here. I never would
have thought that a simple BBQ sandwich would become our family's traditional
Christmas Eve meal - but I think the kids would be really upset with me if I
changed it to something fancier. Perhaps
it just sets the tone of a time of relaxation and remembrance of fun family
memories.
