URGENT!  Please Take Action by May 17
On May 17th, El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will hear comments and take action on a proposal initiated by the El Dorado County Mental Health Division titled the "The Innovation Work Plan". Unfortunately, El Dorado Hills (EDH), with the highest population in the county, is not included!  The proposal provides funding for "Health Navigators" to identify needs and coordinate services in South Lake Tahoe, Placerville, and Georgetown, but not El Dorado Hills.  It is noted that El Dorado Hills is included in the "Western Slope".  However, much like Georgetown, EDH is too far (18 miles) to realistically benefit from services provided in Placerville.  El Dorado Hills needs to be identified specifically as a target population so that it can receive funding for these vital health services.

Therefore, we highly recommend that the Work Plan be amended to address the disparity in services provided per capita.  According to the 2010 census EDH has 42,108 and Cameron Park 18,228 (totaling 60,330), six times the Placerville population of 10,389, almost three times the S. Lake Tahoe population of 21,403 and 25 times the Georgetown population of 2,367! This gross inequity must be addressed by physically placing at least one Full-Time "Health Navigator" in EDH to serve this end of the county.  (The Plan currently calls for 2 positions to be located in South Lake Tahoe and 2.2 positions to be located in Placerville.)

TAKE ACTION - for fair allocation of government funds:

1.  Use the attached sample letter, cut and paste it into your own email and personalize it with your information, and then email it to:

bosone@edcgov.us, bostwo@edcgov.us, bosthree@edcgov.us, bosfour@edcgov.us, bosfive@edcgov.us, neda.west@edcgov.us, MHSA@edcgov.us, sophie.cabrera@edcgov.us,
christine.kondo-lister@edcgov.us

2.  Attend the Board Meeting on Tuesday, May 17, at 9:15 am, at 330 Fair Lane, Building A, Placerville.  Let your Supervisors know that El Dorado Hills, the largest population in the County, has unmet needs for mental and emotional health services.  The Innovation Work Plan needs to specifically address those needs by amending the plan to 1) List EDH as a target population and 2) require that a Full-Time Health Navigator position be physically located in El Dorado Hills

3.  Forward this email on to others who are interested in advocating for Mental Health Services in El Dorado Hills.
