Extreme Recess Sailing

Chesapeake Regional Accessible Boating (CRAB) teamed up with Dreams For kids to provide a great afternoon of sailing on Saturday June 11, 2011. After a brief rain pour, the otherwise beautiful weather made for a relaxing and fun afternoon. Thanks to CRAB's six skippers and our awesome volunteers, 30 participants got a chance to experience the joy of sailing, most for the first time ever. Extend a big thank you to, event coordinator Jabrilla Carr, for putting together an incredible day. The event overall was a success and will deffiently become a permanent addition to our annual calendar.

Extreme Recess Lacrosse
Extreme Recess Lacrosse is next weekend, Saturday June 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Georgetown Main Athletic Field. We are teaming up with the Georgetown Athletic Department for what will be a great event! Fifty participants are signed up already. Come participate in a fun, life changing event.

Deliotte Impact Day
On Friday June 10, Deliotte gave Dreams For kids the opportunity to participate in their annual, national event, Deliotte Impact Day. DFK interns and Deliotte employees worked together to re-vamp the DC Therapeutic Recreational (TR) Park.
This park serves as a facility for local youth with disabilities to come learn and grow through summer camps, group and individual activities. Through a team effort and hard work, DFK and Deliotte were able to make over the beautiful park, with new vibrant flowers, a fresh paint job and various other touch ups to the great venue.

TR park and Deliotte share DFK's commitment to today's youth as well as value their impact on the community. It is great organizations like Deliotte that will lead to a brighter future where today's youth become tomorrow's leaders.

US Lacrosse Donation

US Lacrosse has donated 30 soft sticks and 30 balls to our Extreme Recess Lacrosse clinic. The donation will serve this clinic and many in the future.

In honor of their outreach we will continue to pay it forward donating the sticks again the DC Parks and Recreation until the next Extreme Recess Lacrosse Clinic.

Dreams For Kids is so grateful for US Lacrosse's commitment to serving those with disabilities and look forward to working with them in the future.

Dream Leaders wants your thoughts
What do you want to see DC's youth do in the community?

We are in the process of Re-vamping our seminal leadership program, Dream Leaders. The program attracts middle and high school teens of all backgrounds and abilities. The program serves to empower youth through service learning and social entrepreneurship training.

The program will include 12 new service projects throughout the coming year. E-mail your ideas for service projects to
DC@dreamsforkids.org. Your opinion is valued and appreciated.
