Tickets are still available for our special Valentine's event for friends and families of Dreams for Kids!
Join us at Carmine's DC on Sunday, February 12th from 2-4pm for a party like no other! Children ages 4-24 of all abilities will be provided with a FREE buffet and for a very discounted rate adults can enjoy the buffet for just $25.
Even more, children will receive a chocolate torte to decorate!
There is no better way to spend your Valentine's weekend then at Carmine's with your friends and family. A portion of proceeds will kindly be donated back to Dreams for Kids DC by Carmine's/Alicart Restaurant Group.

Extreme Recess: Music & Dance
|
The
very first Extreme Recess: Dance & Music clinic is right around the corner!
Join us on March 11th, 2012 as we shake things up at Chris Collins Dance Studio
Leading the dancing is Jenn Ruhl Kubilus. Jenn grew up dancing in New
Jersey, New York and the Philadelphia area and is well versed in contemporary, modern, lyrical, ballet,
pointe, jazz and acro-dance. A graduate of George Mason University, Jenn has a
BFA degree in Dance with a minor in Arts Administration. She is a
choreographer, dancer and the operations manager of Mayzsoul. When not choreographing
throughout the Metro DC Area, Jenn is on the teaching faculty at Chris Collins
Dance Studio and Cuppett Performing Arts Center.
"I
am grateful to be a part of such a wonderful event. Mayzsoul has been searching
for ways to give back to the community through dance. By partnering with Dreams
for Kids we can share our beautiful art form with children who do not typically
have the opportunity to take dance classes. I hope to continue a long, lasting
relationship between our organizations," Jenn says.

Extreme Recess: Hockey Recap

On Thursday February 2nd, 2012 about 60 children came out for our second Extreme Recess: Hockey with the Washington Capitals! Everyone had a wonderful time as Caps players, John Erskine, Jay Beagle and Jason Chimera joined us on the ice.
Parent Nancy Hepp raves about the event, "my
son Charlie would like to thank his volunteer support person, Sharon, and
Capitals team members Jason Chimera, John Erskine, and Jay Beagle for their
kindness and helpfulness. The guys were so kind and down to earth. It was a
WONDERFUL experience! I'm having trouble getting his autographed shirt
from him to wash, and Charlie absolutely loved his wonderful, attentive,
thoughtful volunteer, Sharon."

Holiday for Hope 2011 | |
Dreams for Kids DC's annual giving event reaches out to 600 at-risk DC youth to give them a day of hope and celebration this holiday season. Holiday for Hope occured on Sunday, Dec. 18th this year, and is the largest Holiday celebration for homeless and underprivileged children in the DC metro area. All participants received a full day of entertainment, a holiday feast and a bag of gifts. Besides presents, children were treated with a Boston Market lunch, entertainment, dancers, singers, arts and crafts and much more.

| Spotlight: Christi Main | |
Christi began working with Dreams for Kids when Executive Director, Glenda Fu, asked her to be on the Host Committee for the Midsummer Night for Dreams fundraiser in August 2011. The mission of Dreams for Kids strongly resonated with Christi; believing in compassion and helping kids chase their dreams.
She has volunteered for as many events as possible, from Extreme Recess Golf and Soccer with D.C. United, Holiday for Hope, and Extreme Recess Hockey with the Washington Capitals (by far her favorite event). Christi's involvement and advocacy with DFK has inspired her family and close friends to become involved and share their love with the community.
A Montgomery County MD native, Christi graduated from Salisbury University with a B.A in Communications and was a member of the Women's Varsity Swim Team. |

Suits and Boots Fundraiser | |
Playing golf in a
bathing suit in January is typically unheard of! But not at TopGolf where participants grabbed their beachwear and snow boots for a night of golf inside TopGolfs
heated and covered bays. A portion of all proceeds went to Dreams for Kids!
This sold out event was a hit!
