BIG MONTH AHEAD... so we wanted to get you in on the ground floor!
This Saturday, Welcome Hall Mission is participating in the Ride for Refuge. As you may remember from last year, it's a cycling fundraiser to help organizations that come to the aid of the displaced, vulnerable and exploited. This year, we're supporting our Youth Services program, Coeur à Soeur. Learn more here.
GotGinch AKA The Cross-Canada Underwear Drive 2011 comes to Montreal!

Next Monday, October 3rd, we're expecting a delivery of 3,500 pairs of men's underwear! That's right! The Underwear King is back! Calgary-based philanthropist Brent King and Robb Price, the founder of Delivergood.org, are driving over 7000 kms in an RV delivering 35,000 pairs of ginch* to homeless shelters in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax.
*'Ginch' is a term used to describe standard men's underwear briefs.
An Alouettes Thanksgiving: Serving turkey with a side of hope

Welcome Hall Mission is happy to report that the Montreal Alouettes will be serving their 14thAnnual Thanksgiving Dinner at the Men's Mission on Monday, October 10th. Every year, players serve hot and hearty turkey dinners to more than 300 homeless people in a warm and festive atmosphere. The evening begins with some encouraging and inspirational words from Alouettes Chaplain, Reverend Tom Paul and the players. Last year, the sound of joyful chatter and the music of "Deacon George" filled the room, which was decorated with art from St. George's kindergarten class. Al's running back Avon Cobourne related his childhood living in a shelter with his family. QB Anthony Calvillo shared about his family's hardships growing up, offering the hope of forgiveness and reconciliation to those estranged from their loved ones. It was nice to have Coach Marc Trestman there as well, served coffee and encouragement.
Happy Thanksgiving! |
