Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Bob and I are working our way across the USA. We are back in the Lower 48 states for the winter. We arrived in Bellingham, Washington, on October 1. After a few days there, we headed down to the Oregon Coast. From there, we crossed Idaho, Utah, and Colorado. We're in Wyoming, now, but leaving for South Dakota tomorrow.

This is a different kind of trip for us. We don't have an RV with us. We left our travel trailer in Alaska. We have a motorhome in South Dakota. I don't know how many times over the past couple of weeks I have said, "If we had the motorhome…."

We get tired of driving, and instead of simply finding a place to park for the night, I start searching for a reasonably priced, pet friendly motel. We miss the convenience of a stocked refrigerator. I miss my own bed. We travel light, but still, lugging luggage into a motel every night gets old.

The other thing we notice is how much harder it is to get work done. We've turned into clock-watchers, aware of check-in and checkout times. And, TV watchers -- unusual for us, because we don't have a television in the travel trailer, cabin, or motorhome. Working in the RV seems normal. Working in a motel room is proving more of a challenge.

We should be back to the motorhome tomorrow. We'll likely be in the Dakotas for a few days visiting our mothers. After that, we'll head somewhere south.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Referrals Lead to Finder's Fees, Sometimes Quite Hefty Ones

Your referrals are important to business owners. There's a good chance they will pay you a finder's fee for making them. This may amount to a few freebies. It can also be a primary business strategy.

You naturally tell people about products and services you like and use. You're sitting around the campfire chatting and as you reach for the insect repellent, you mention how this one works better than any other you've tried. Someone admires your new earrings and asks where you bought them. You just went on an RV caravan to Alaska and you can't wait to tell everyone about it.

Working RVer Tip - Workplace Friendships

You'll find some co-workers are a joy to be around. You may remain good friends long after the job ends. Other co-workers, well, let's just say that you'll limit your time around them as much as you can. Expect to get along with those you work with, but don't expect to be best buddies with all of them.
