Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

"Schmoozed with the guys at the local coffee shop." I was reading some notes I had of what income producing activities we'd done during the week. That was one of the things on the list. Making connections and getting to know the locals is an excellent way to find out about jobs. It's also important if you are self-employed and looking to increase your business income. I've written about how we find work at the local cafes before. Often enough, in fact, that one of our loyal readers commented on it. More on this further into the newsletter.

It's been a busy week of travel for us. We left the Branson, Missouri, area Tuesday morning. We visited friends in Oklahoma. We are now in the Texas Rio Grande Valley. Along, the way, we did a bit of sight-seeing and enjoyed some excellent food.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

JR Watkins - A Location Independent Business for RVers

Bob and I have been selling JR Watkins products since 2005. People love the vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper, the old time remedies, and the natural skin care products - and that makes it easy to sell. The business is extremely flexible. You do as much or as little as you want. No minimum orders. They'll drop-ship the products for you. Work the business wherever your RV travels take you -- USA or Canada. See the product catalog and learn more.

Working RVer Tip -- Flexible Schedules

One of the main things employers look for in hiring seasonal help is flexibility in scheduling. Your willingness to work holiday weekends or split shifts can make the difference of whether they will or won't hire you.

Workers On Wheels Articles

A long-time Workers On Wheels reader pointed out that he's noticed we've found out about quite a few jobs when we are eating out at restaurants. His observation is correct. Below are links to two articles I wrote a while back about finding work while at the local café.

Find a Job by Having Coffee and Breakfast at the Local Café (Part 1)

Find a job when you are new in town and don't know anyone? How? I wrote this article in 1997 and it's still a good way to find employment. This actually makes looking for work a fun part of the day.

Find a Job by Having Coffee and Breakfast at the Local Cafe (Part 2 - continued)

How to find a job by going to the cafe - part 2. More examples of employment offers, along with specific tips for finding work when you are new in town and don't know where to look for employment.

Working RVer Tip -- Know What Is Important to the Campground Owner

Study the descriptions of campgrounds that you find in campground guides and travel publications. The editorial can tell you a lot about the campground and what the owners think is important. Use that information in your job search and at job interviews.
