Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

The majestic beauty of the Black Hills! It's where Bob and I lived before we started full-time RVing. We're here again, camped out at a friend's farm outside of Rapid City.

We bought our first RV in Rapid City. We were working the Black Hills Flea Market. Another vendor had an old Winnebago trailer for sale for $250. It was a 1962 model and 12 feet long. I bought it on a whim, thinking it would be handy for us to spend Saturday nights at the flea market. We lived in Deadwood, so it saved us the trip home Saturday night and the trip back to Rapid City to work the market again on Sunday. Little did we know that first taste of working-while-RVing 25 years ago would get us hooked on the lifestyle.

I'm having trouble concentrating today. My mind is elsewhere and my eyes burn from crying. I woke up this morning to find our cat had died during the night. He's been part of our family for a long time. He's traveled with us from Alaska to the Mexican border several times, as well as from the West Coast to the east, and throughout the Midwest. He was a diabetic cat, and we gave him insulin shots twice a day. When we went to the vet this fall before leaving Alaska, Dr. Matt warned us that Dewey had already lived years beyond his normal life expectancy. So, while his death isn't terribly shocking, it is still terribly painful for us. He was more than "just" a cat to us, perhaps in part because we don't have human kids. Bob buried him here on the farm, where the deer, wild turkeys, and rabbits play. We find comfort in the good memories and in knowing we spoiled him every day he was with us. We know he is in a good place and tomorrow will be a brighter day.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Working in Sales

I focus on sales a lot, because it is an excellent way for RVers to earn while traveling. It's how many people earn their living. Many more earn at least a part-time income selling things they make, or being a rep for another company. Add in eBay and similar sites, antique pickers, food concessions, retail workers, and affiliate marketers. Then, there are vendors at flea markets, fairs, festivals, and all sorts of shows. People are in sales because they make money doing it. How convenient for RVers that it often allows -- or requires - travel!
