Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Workers On Wheels celebrates its 25th anniversary next year. Oh, the miles we have traveled, the jobs we have worked, and the words we have written during these years. In this age where publications come and go, we're happy to see there's still a need for what we do. Bob and I wrote the first issue of Workers On Wheels and we have written every one of them since.

Next year is time to celebrate! How? Give-a-ways. Free campground stays. Meet and greets with free food. (Maybe no one wants to meet us, but I know some of our readers will fall for free food!) Workers On Wheels T-shirts or mugs or tote bags. Our newsletters compiled into an e-book or a hard-copy book. These are some of the ideas we've been tossing around. But, honestly, I think we should do something more impressive! What kind of celebration would you like to see? What would you like to win? How would you like to be involved?

We'd appreciate it if you'd help us spread the word about our newsletter and website. When you are on an RVing forum and someone asks where to find information about paid or volunteer jobs, please tell them about us and post the website address: www.WorkersOnWheels.com. They'll probably be glad to know we don't charge for the website, the newsletter, or for the near daily feeds we send out announcing new jobs listings.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Change Your Mindset to Expect a Decent Wage

If you want to earn a living as a full-time RVer, get out of the mindset that all jobs for RVers are volunteer, work-for-a-site, or minimum wage jobs. They aren't. Many pay excellent or competitive wages.

Things We Have Learned While Being Camphosts At a State Park

This week's feature article was written by Mary Keyser, who, with her husband Harald, are award-winning camphosts at Talimena State Park in Talihina, Oklahoma. As full-time RVers, the Keysers have worked for a private campground, as well as for state parks. Besides camphosting, Mary is an independent rep for several companies and an avid crafter.

More than simply sharing what they have learned, Mary includes many tips in this article. She paints a realistic picture of what it is like to be a camphost.

Working RVer Tip - Remember Who's Boss

Your employer's primary role is to be your leader, supervisor, or boss. It is not to be your friend. It is great to have fun on the job. It is great when you like your boss, the boss likes you, and the two of you can have fun together. But when it comes to brass tacks, remember the employer is the one paying you -- whether with accommodations or a paycheck -- and you are the subordinate.

Working RVer Tip -- Take Time to Get Away

Wise employers know that even workers who love their jobs need time away. A break from the job to relax and recharge can mean you'll be more productive when you are back on the clock.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website
