Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Branson, Missouri, is a mecca for working RVers. A tourist town, it's both a playground and an employment hotspot. Entertainment venues and service businesses, industries that are notorious for hiring seasonal and short-term workers, line the streets. It seems every restaurant we've been to has a "Now Hiring" sign. Silver Dollar City, the 1880s themed amusement park, hires nearly 2000 employees for its four properties in the community.

Bob and I have been in Branson for a week or so. We'll likely stay for a few days past Thanksgiving. We're getting our monthly postal mail package and catching up on some work projects. We're also enjoying some of those tourist attractions, as well as the natural beauty of the area.

You've heard me say before that I love my work. There are a number of reasons why. Notes from our readers, such as this one below, are one of those reasons:

"I'm sure you guys get a lot of feedback on your newsletters. I just wanted to add my two cents. I really appreciate all the effort you go through to make sure you provide us, your readers, with good info. I love hearing about your travels. It makes me believe there is hope outside of my office. Thank you for everything you do. Mike"

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Use Appropriate Salutations for Business Correspondence

When inquiring about a job, address the person you contact with a name or title. When I opened my email this morning, there was one from a freelance writer wanting to write for our websites. She said she had researched and read our site. But, she addressed her email to me as, "There." As in, "Hi There." I wonder how she could have read much on either of our RVing websites without figuring out that my name is Coleen. Taking the time to find out the name of the person you are contacting, and addressing them politely, can make the difference between getting the job or not getting it. And, if you aren't sure who, exactly, you are sending your correspondence to, at least use an appropriate title in your salutation.

Working RVer Tip - Take Responsibility for What You Do

When you make a mistake, take responsibility for it. Admit it. Apologize for it. Work to see that it doesn't happen again. Most importantly, don't blame the boss for it.
