Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Bob and I are back in Alaska for the summer. We took the Alaska Marine Highway from Bellingham, Washington, to Haines, Alaska. Then, we drove from Haines to our home base in Soldotna. The ferry ride cut about 2,100 miles from the drive.

Yes, it is possible to bring your vehicle on the ferry. Motorcycles, 42-foot diesel pushers, pick-ups with campers, vintage Class Cs, tow vehicles with trailers, Class Bs that had me wishing and wanting…. There were more RVs on the ferry than I've seen at some RV shows. Pets, but not people, may stay in the vehicles while the ferry is enroute.

Part of our work this summer is tending our second hand store, AK Secondhand. The store is an offshoot of our days as flea market vendors. We'll be keeping the store stocked and manned, in addition to our writing and websites, Watkins business, and other on-going endeavors.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

JR Watkins - A Location Independent Business for RVers

Bob and I have been selling JR Watkins products since 2005. People love the vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper, the old time remedies, and the natural skin care products - and that makes it easy to sell. The business is extremely flexible. You do as much or as little as you want. No minimum orders. They'll drop-ship the products for you. Work the business wherever your RV travels take you -- USA or Canada. See the product catalog and learn more.

Working RVer Tip: Interact With Local Workers

Visit with people who are already doing the kind of work you want to do. Go the places those workers go.

Want to work on a fishing charter? Frequent the marina cafe, the tackle and bait shops, and the fish cleaning docks. Talk to the people you see there.

Want to work at a theme park? Go to theme parks. Visit with the workers there. Ask them about their jobs.

Mission Builders of the ELCA is a mission outreach ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. They have paid employment and short-term (as little as one week) volunteer opportunities. Working RVer participants who work less than a month serve as volunteers. They receive no remuneration. They do, however, receive RV parking and a full RV hook up. After one month of volunteer duty, RVers may be hired to work for pay.
