Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Going through my file of notes for Workers On Wheels I found the following:

"One of the best ways to find work is to look around you. We spent much of the week in Seward, Alaska. On the way there, we stopped at the Summer Solstice Festival in Moose Pass. If you want to get some ideas of work RVers do to support themselves, just visit a festival and a tourist town.

Gift shops, grocery stores, the hardware store, and fishing tackle shop all had signs up that they were hiring. It seemed that every restaurant we walked into or walked by had a Help Wanted sign.

Besides signs, look for RVs. We saw working RVers at campgrounds, fishing camps, and kayaking operations. Other RVers were working at – either as owners or helpers – food trucks and food carts. One motorhome was set up along the roadside beside a jerky booth.

At the festival, folks were selling everything from baked goods to pottery, real furs to fine art, handmade jewelry to cheap trinkets. Others provided services, such as face painting and handing out educational materials. And, of course, there were food vendors, from Asian cuisine to roasted ears of sweet corn."

That advice is still true. Working RVers have so many options. Look for them. Choose a couple that are right for you, and go for it!

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip

Check the time zones before making phone calls. If you are on the east coast and call an employer on the west coast, at 10:00 a.m. your time, it is only 7:00 a.m. his time. And, if you are in a western state and make an evening call at 9:00 pm your time, you are calling the employer who lives in an eastern state at midnight!

Tying Fishing Flies - Fun, Profitable, and the Right Fit for an RV

I didn't start tying fishing flies to sell them. One day I was fishing, and catching fish. Others around me weren’t. Now I sell them at flea markets, to individuals, and in our secondhand store.

Working RVer Tip

When applying for a job, follow the instructions in the ad and on the application. It shows you can – and are willing to – follow directions. Additionally, there's likely a specific reason for them. For example, if it tells you to make contact by email, it could be that the employer wants to see your written communication skills.
