Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

We're Alaska bound, but going slowly. Port Isabel, Texas, where we roosted for a couple months, is over 4,700 miles from our home base in Alaska. And, that is without detours. Detours to Czech bakeries in West, Texas. Detours to a couple of casinos in Oklahoma. Stops to visit our mothers in the Dakotas. For us, one of the advantages of being working RVers is that we don't need to follow a strict travel schedule. We'll get to Alaska sooner or later.

I'm gradually getting some pictures and updates added to the RV-Life-and-Travel website. You can find them here.

We'll be back with the jobs update edition of this Workers on Wheels Newsletter mid-week.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip - Match Your Skills to the Job

Show prospective employers that you are capable of doing the job. Read their Help Wanted ads carefully, so you know what it is they want you to do. When you make contact with them, make sure they know what skills you have that will benefit them.

Coleen Recommends

These are businesses that Bob and I work, that I personally know to be worthwhile. The products are excellent. The companies are great to work with and are in the USA. The support and training is exceptional.

JR Watkins Product Sales - To help you get started, enroll in March and get a $20 Watkins gift certificate. Be the modern "Watkins man," or "Watkins woman!" People love and want these great products -- and use them every day.  Find out more.

Jerky Direct - Join our Jerky Direct team and receive a free bag of natural jerky with your training, because the best way to sell the jerky is to taste it. There is no sign up fee to become a distributor. More into here.

One Minute Business - In additional to your regular commissions and bonuses, you can get a free, all expenses paid luxury trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Simple, 2-steps. Uses social media. Details here.

Take Your Lunch and Your Gloves, and Do a Little Extra

Picking up rocks on my own initiative was why he kept me for a second day, even though he originally hadn’t planned on it. I learned that later on, along with a few other things about why I was kept on for one of the best jobs I've had while full-time RVing.

Working RVer Tip - Dish Washer

For a seasonal job, there's always restaurant dish washing. I heard an owner and manager discussing dishwashers and this was the quote concerning the hiring requirement. "If he can stand up straight and breath." It may not be glamorous, but the positions are readily available, in most every community. Since high school kids often work these jobs during the weekends, you may be able to work weekdays and have your weekends for fun. You may also be able to choose your hours, from very early to very late, depending on when you want time for other activities.

Property Caretaking Work for RVers

Read the articles on our website about working as property caretakers.

Property caretaking jobs... Today you enjoy living rent-free at a beach resort or a mountain retreat. Tomorrow, you live rent-free in a city apartment or on a country estate. A few months from now, home could be a rustic Alaskan fishing lodge. Or, a tropical organic farm community.

Ranch sitting pays the bills, gives us a free RV parking, and puts us in a storybook scene of beauty. Unlike volunteer work camping, this property caretaking paid an hourly wage.

Good property caretakers are honest and dependable. Those may be the only characteristics they share. Their skills, education, personal preference, background, and outlook on life vary greatly.

Caretaking with pets is possible, but don't take for granted that your animals are included in the caretaker offer. Some ads specify dogs and horses are welcome. An RV can help in other instances.

Mahnessah is a life-long career caretaker. He crisscrosses the U.S. and Canada in his RV, accompanied by his dog, Miah, Mahnessah has been a caretaker for properties throughout the U.S.

The Caretaker Gazette is a newsletter for property caretakers with job listings all over the world for house sitters, pet sitters, land caretaking, domestic help, estate managers, and farm workers.
