Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Bob and I have been in the Midwest, visiting family. Our mothers live in Minnesota and the Dakotas. They lead very active social lives and enjoy planning social events for us. We tried to keep up!

We are now getting back to our less planned, less scheduled routines. And, speaking of plans, we haven't yet made our summer plans.

We get all sorts of questions about when is the right time to advertise open positions and when is the right time to look for a job. Well, it depends. Our Help Wanted ads page currently has parks looking for help to start today. There's also an ad from a campground hiring for next summer. For more perspective on this, be sure to read the Apply Early article later in this issue.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Southeast Publications: Creators of Campground Guest Guides

You know the site maps that you get when you check into a campground? The ones that have the park layout with the sites, letting you know where to find the shower house and other amenities? With helpful information around the edges, including info on local businesses that welcome RVers? Who makes those maps, anyway? Many of them come from a company called Southeast Publications.

Southeast Publications contracts with working RVers to do those maps. RVers receive commission on the advertising they sell. They also stay free at the RV park while they are working on the park's map.

Working RVer Tip -- Work for Site Hours

I've asked campground owners how they decide how many hours of work to ask for in exchange for a site. A common answer is that they go by what they see in other ads. They also tend to ask on the high side, expecting that workers will negotiate a deal with fewer hours.
