You might find this useful...  I recently purchased a piece of
software called Domain Samurai which allows 
you to search for great domain names which are about to expire.
The good thing about this tool is it can sort them in order 
of age, number of incoming links, or PR (PageRank).
 
Also by searching old domains you can find ones with good keywords
in them which also helps you rank well. You pay a bit more than a
new domain, but imagine how much you save in terms of time and
money, trying to get visibility for your site. By buying an
expiring domain name you are also buying the links and PageRank
that someone else has done the hard work building up. 
 
(for those who don't know - old domains and domains with high
pageRank, will normally rank better on Google, other things being
equal)
 
So if you are thinking of setting up a new website, don't overlook
this option.
