Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are We Doing?)
I hope your new year has gotten off to a great start—and that you are staying warm!
Bob and I are in Texas. Instead of going to the Rio Grande Valley this winter, we stayed further north. We’re near the little town of Concan, right on the Frio River. It’s a rural area in Texas Hill Country, between Uvalde and Leakey.
Bob’s been kayaking. That’s a new activity for him. The Frio River stays warm enough year round.
Bob’s also working for the campground where we are staying, Camp Riverview. That limits our time to explore the area. It also gives us a fresh look at all the work that goes on at a campground during the off season. It’s awfully easy to forget (or not realize) all the maintenance, upkeep, repairs, and improvements parks do.
Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,
Coleen

Our First RV: That Little Winnebago Trailer Changed Our Lives
Our first RV purchase was a surprise to Bob. It was back in the summer of 1991. I bought a 12-foot Winnebago travel trailer unbeknownst to him. I had no idea at the time how it would change our lives.

RVing and Camping Tip
Towel rods mounted on walls are great for keeping shoes organized. They keep the shoes off the floor and out of the way. Just drop the shoes behind the rod, toe first. Thin and flexible footwear, such as slippers and sandals, can be doubled up so the pair fits in one space. Towel rods come in assorted styles and sizes. If you get the kind with a wooden dowel and separate brackets, you can cut them shorter so they fit in
smaller spaces.

RVing and Camping Tip
A four-cup Pyrex measuring cup is super handy in an RV. Use it as a mixing bowl—the handle is really convenient. Use it as a pitcher for reconstituting small cans of beverage concentrates. Use it as a casserole dish. When you don’t have your water heater on, you can use it to nuke water for dishes or small clean-up jobs. The four-cup and the two-cup sizes stack together, so they don’t waste precious cabinet
space.

It is in his pleasure that a man really lives; it is from his leisure that he constructs the true fabric of self. ~ Agnes Repplier
