Where In the World Are Coleen and Bob?
(And Just What Are We Doing?)
The RV resort has a swimming pool, lazy river, and various other outdoor games and activities for kids. What are the kids doing? Playing in the puddles. Oh, sure, they are using the other resort amenities. But, the puddles hold a special attraction. It’s good to see them out playing, instead of glued to their electronic screens.
The one thing that has surprised us here is the wildlife. Our site’s in a great location for watching the shore birds. Rabbits, crabs, and frogs entertain us on a regular basis. And then one day, we looked out and saw…a coyote. This was not a coyote off in the distance. It was walking along about 30 feet from our motorhome.
Enjoy your Independence Day week! We plan on enjoying ours here at Galveston Island RV Resort.
Wherever you are in your travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,
Coleen

Parking Near Salt Water
We’ve had people asking about the effects of salt water when parking near the beach. There’s no doubt that the salt water mist makes a mess on the windows. Some RVers wash their rigs weekly or even more often. Bob and I both addressed this issue more closely in the Question and Answer section on the website.

Emergency Preparedness
I’ve been accused of looking at the world through rose colored glasses. We don’t do a lot of planning. We usually take things as they come, going with the flow. After all, that freedom and flexibility is a great part of the appeal of full-time RVing.
However, we are realists. We know that disaster could strike. So, while we don’t do much planning, we do prepare for emergencies. Summer, with all it’s sun and fun, also seems to be prime time for disasters—wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.
With that in mind, I’d like to call your attention to three articles on our RV Life and Travel website about preparing for emergencies. Click through the links below to read them.

RVing and Camping Tip
Coat hooks are your friends! Not the chintzy, plastic, peel-and-stick ones that fall off the wall. I’m talking about real metal ones that screw into the wall, and are meant to hold things. We use them throughout our RVs to hold all sorts of things. We hang coffee mugs on them, and the mugs stay there during travel. Bob has his metal detector and accessories hanging on them. They are good for hanging
towels, tote bags, tools, pans that have holes in the handles, brooms and other cleaning supplies, and bags of produce. (If you’ve been to the Rio Grande Valley in the winter, you know about hanging bags of oranges and grapefruit!) And, yes, they are also good for hanging up coats and other clothing.

All life is an experiment. ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
After all, it is those who have a deep and real inner life who are best able to deal with the irritating details of outer life. ~ Evelyn Underhill
