As you know, Porsche Club of America delivers e-Brake News to your inbox every Tuesday. This is the February monthly recap.

1. First Drive: 4.0-liter flat six makes Porsche 718 GTS sound as good as it drives on road and track

PCA—On the record, Chevrolet’s new mid-engined C8 Corvette is merely an interesting curiosity to the folks at Porsche AG and Porsche Cars North America. Behind closed doors, one gets the impression that the threat assessment is a little bit different. The C8 is likely the first Corvette that can seriously hunt for conquests among Porsche owners, and the first that presents something close to an existential threat to any Porsche product line, in this case the base four-cylinder turbo 718 Boxster/Cayman. For about the same money, the Corvette brings a 490-horsepower V8 against a 300-hp turbo four, and it’s nearly two seconds faster from zero to 60 miles per hour.

2. Here are the Fall 2019 Member Only Raffle winners [w/video]

PCA—Each fall and spring, Porsche Club of America opens a member only raffle, in which you, the member, may purchase entries for a chance to win a brand-new Porsche. For the Fall 2019 Member Only Raffle, the first grand prize was a brand-new 718 Cayman GT4 plus $25,000 in cash. The second grand prize was a 718 Spyder plus $25,000 in cash. Any additional grand prizes were either a 718 Cayman T or Boxster T, plus $25,000 in cash. Here are the winners!

3. 2020 Porsche Macan GTS: Drives like a big hot hatch with big power

PCA—At this point, pretty much everyone reading this knows by heart what the Porsche AG press materials reiterate: No matter which model range, “the GTS models are some of the sportiest, most dynamic and most emotive vehicles in their segment.” This was certainly true in 2015 when the first iteration of the Macan GTS was introduced. And now five years later, even in the face of a new wave of sporty crossovers from the likes of Alfa Romeo, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz/AMG, the Macan GTS remains the most visceral and fun-to-drive vehicle in its class.

4. Video: Watch Porsche 911 Turbo S Pop Epic Wheelie, Clock 9.27-Second Quarter-Mile

Motor Trend—It's not every day you see a Porsche 911 Turbo S pop a giant wheelie. Then again, it's not every day you come across a Porsche 911 Turbo S like Mark Blackwell's.

Despite its mostly stock looks, this 991-series Porsche packs more than 1,000-hp from its twin-turbocharged flat-six engine. Of course, Blackwell's Turbo S wasn't always the manic machine it is today. "I just wanted to get a 911 Turbo," Blackwell told MotorTrend, "and then I started tracking at Laguna Seca and it went on from there."

5. Panorama photographer wins Motor Press Guild award for image of 911 GT3 RS at Road America

PCA—Every year the Motor Press Guild recognizes some of the best work in automotive journalism, and contributors to Porsche Panorama are no strangers to receiving top awards. This year, photographer Marc Urbano received the Bob D’Olivo Award for Photography for the cover of the June 2019 issue, while photographer Randy Wells was a finalist for his lead-spread image for his article “At The Crossroads” in the December 2019 issue.

Griot's Garage partners with PCA for e-Brake Photo of the Week contest

PCA has partnered with Griot's Garage for our Porsche Photo of the Week contest. Winners will receive a Griot's Garage Concours Lawn Kit, a $99.99 value. We will also randomly award a PotW voter each month a PFM Speed Shine Kit, a $28.99 value. All you have to do is cast a vote for your favorite Porsche photo.
