| | PCA—Each fall and spring, Porsche Club of America opens a member only raffle, in which you, the member, may purchase entries for a chance to win a brand-new Porsche. For the Spring 2020 Member Only Raffle, the grand prize is a Porsche Taycan 4S plus $25,000. Alternatively, winners may also choose $85,000 instead of a car plus $25,000. After the initial 8,500 entries, another Grand Prize will be added for every additional 4,500 entries
sold. Raffle entries are $50 (USD) each. The raffle closes June 5, 2020.

| | PCA—Bill Sholar was a successful commercial artist in his mid-fifties when he founded Porsche Club of America, and he had an interesting life before and after his time with the club. Born in 1901, he attended New York University during the roaring twenties. He earned money as a dancer in Broadway shows and a part time bootlegger! He met his wife of 56 years, Virginia, on Broadway, where she was a professional dancer with the Ziegfeld Follies.
By the 1950s, the Sholars had moved to Alexandria, Virginia. Bill had an advertising art business and Virginia a dancing school.

| | Motor1—Although not as capable as its immediate predecessor, the second-generation Porsche Cayenne still boasts a reasonable amount of off-road capability, especially compared to other luxury crossovers. But as a recent YouTube video from Hoonigan AutoFocus proves, there’s more fun to be had in the Cayenne once Porsche tuner E-Motion Engineering had its way with a rare diesel version of the SUV.

The iconic Porsche 911 is no different, combining the best of Porsche’s performance prowess in a costly package. The video above shows a beautiful blue 991.1 911 Turbo S (2013-2016) rocketing down the Bahrain International Circuit drag strip.

Road & Track—Back in December, Porsche invited us out to Sonoma Raceway to drive a handful of classic sports cars from the company's museum, along with their modern counterparts. I decided to take the long way there. Fly to Los Angeles, get away from crappy New York winter weather, and head up the coast, with a few diversions inland.

| | Autocar—We already knew the Porsche Taycan Turbo is a sensational four-wheel drive all-electric saloon car, having driven one in the USA, on UK roads and even on the continent in a three-way shootout with two other game-changing grand tourers.

Car and Driver—The new 992-generation Porsche 911 enters its second model year in the U.S. with a few new features and a striking new Python Green exterior color, pictured above. Options from the higher-end Turbo and Turbo S models are now available on the lower-end Carrera trim levels, and additional driver-assistance features are offered.

Well, the bids are in, the dust has settled, and after fees and taxes are taken care of, Porsche matched the $500,000 winning bid to ensure United Way Worldwide's Community Response and Recovery Fund will have a cool $1 million to assist those affected by the ongoing global pandemic.

The Drive—The Porsche Cayenne may have a reputation as a fancy kid-hauler, grocery-getter, and darling of the domestic sphere, but that's not what Porsche built it for. Let's just say that if your kid's school drop-off zone is on the other side of Russia, you'll be okay.

| | Hagerty—One step beyond Safari 911s and Ruf’s idea of a desert stormer is another emerging modification trend—lifting classic Porsches to the heights of Paris-Dakar 953s. The 953 was a short-lived rally 911 eventually succeeded by the 959-based racers that would prove off-road champions. With its extensive expertise in suspensions and expanding wheel travel, German spring specialist H&R has the know-how to properly execute a lifted vintage

Hoonigan AutoFocus via YouTube—If you’ve been around for some of the early features on Autofocus, the workmanship on this car might look familiar to you… and for good reason. S Klub, the same shop that kicked out the infamous Slang500 Mercedes SL, is the shop that made this off-the-wall swap you see here. Purists, look away… but there’s a Subaru EJ207 where the old carb’d unit used to live.
But to those who enjoy driving, it makes total sense. While it’s from a totally different manufacturer, it’s still a flat 4. Except with a whole lot more power and reliability.

At just 201 miles for the Turbo, and 192 for the Turbo S, Porsche's electric sedan is more than 100 miles behind a comparable Tesla Model S in this important metric.

Autoweek—James Watt, a Scottish engineer and designer of an enhanced steam engine in the late 18th century, gets credit for the term horsepower. He measured how much weight a horse could pull in a minute and found it to be a little over 32,500 pounds of force. He then rounded up and divided by 60 to get 550 pounds per second. And, voila, horsepower.

| | Autoblog—I must admit that I was a bit nervous when I began my EV test loop in the 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S, the ink barely dry on its EPA range rating of 203 miles. I’d run this very same test some two months ago in a 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo, and the result of that prior test was remarkable. Perhaps too remarkable.
