2. Preview of Tomorrow's Sermon
The sermon concludes the teaching focus for the month of November: Experiencing God in Different Times of Our Lives. The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven ... a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance." (Ecclesiastes 3:1-4)
Tomorrow's message will focus on a topic we don't talk about often enough in church -- CELEBRATION. We'll be looking at Nehemiah 8, which tells the story of an important gathering in Jerusalem, where people had a chance to hear God's Word being read (after not hearing it for some time).
People were sad as they heard this being read -- any wept. WHY SO SAD? Maybe they were sad that it had been hidden away for so long, or maybe because they realized how far their lives were off the mark from God's plan. Whatever the reason, Nehemiah and other priests intervene, and tell the people that this is NOT the time to be sad ... it's a time for celebration!
Why does it seem more spiritual to downcast than to be exuberant? Why do we equate "celebrating" and "partying" with debauchery? Can we find ways of "letting loose" and celebrating that are honoring to God? If we are going to be obedient to Scripture ... we MUST!
3. Here are the materials you'll need for our annual meeting

We are committed to giving you the materials you need so you can think and pray about them, and ask questions about our plans. At our annual meeting, we vote on new appointees to our elder and deacon boards, as well as objectives and budget for the upcoming year. Here are the materials you need:
