Tomorrow's Message
The sermon tomorrow continue the teaching focus for the month of October: When Things Fall Apart: Coming to terms with suffering and struggle while maintaining faith in a good and powerful God. As I'm sure you'll agree, during these challenging and divided times, we need to hear this kind of teaching.
Like last week, tomorrow's message will focus on a large section of the book of Job: this time chapters 32-36. These verses relay the monologue from a fifth person ... a young man named Elihu. After hearing Job and his three friends talk back and forth, Elihu feels compelled to speak. This part of the book has been somewhat controversial: should we take what Elihu says as something worth listening to? Or is it just more bad advice like Job's three
friends give?
The answer is important ... and the insights that we can gain from this are really helpful. Remember: the book of Job deals with what is probably the most universal struggle of every person who believes in God: how can we come to terms with pain and suffering in our lives that don't feel like justified punishment, or karma? Is God for us, or against us?
I hope you can join us!
