Tomorrow's Message
The sermon tomorrow will continue the teaching focus for the month of September: Better Together: What do we mean when we talk about "fellowship" and how can we find it? As I'm sure you'll agree, during these challenging and divided times, we need to lean on each other, and need help developing and maintaining healthy spiritual community.
Tomorrow's message will focus on 1 John 2:15-3:3. These verses go back to the theme in the book of clarifying what it means to be genuine followers of Christ (as opposed to a message of confusion and compromise that is happening in the church). These verses talk about several contrasts between loving God and following Jesus vs ... whatever the alternatives might be.
Just as I talked about last week, even though these verses don't directly speak to "community" and "relationships," they have great application for our life together: If our fellowship together is built around a common faith, then clarity about what this common faith involves is of paramount importance. And unfortunately, the confusion that John was concerned about among his readers continues to this day ... so his words to them are vitally
important for us today.
Also note that tomorrow we will begin making nursery available, and we will start up our Q and A sessions (see below).
I hope you can join us for this important teaching.
