Dear PTGC
Growers,
More prizes are on their way! MIGRO ARAY 4 for Best PTGC Journal
All the big tents are getting exciting new array format LED fixtures that improve distribution, but what about the humble 4x2 (120x60cm) tent that is such a great size for first-time indoor growers? The MIGRO ARAY 4 Full Spectrum + Red addresses just this need, and you could win one soon in the PTGC!
|
The MIGRO ARAY 4 draws 240 watts, and puts out 538 µmol/s of usable PPF. That’s enough to easily cover a 4x2 (120x60cm) tent according to the Grow Light Calculator, and Shane’s PAR testing (using the
same methods as Dr. Coco) shows how good the distribution is. Note that this is at a hanging height of just 6” (16 cm), which is perfect for shorter tents and taller plants! The light includes a driver with dimmer and a 12-foot power cord.

Okay, so how can you win this prize? The MIGRO ARAY 4 will be awarded in December for the Best Journal in the PTGC. What makes a journal
Best? Well, clearly regular updates are important, so head on over to your journal and get it updated! The judges will be looking at the overall quality of your journal, not just who updates the most, so include some good photos of your plants and grow setup, information on how you train, any problems and how you overcome them, and whatever else helps tell your story.
|
Party Cup Challenge - Update by 12/1
We will also award a prize for Best Party Cup in December. If you have the "Best Party Cup Plant" then you could win a Viparspectra XS-1500. This is the light that Dr Coco tested! Check out the Test Report and YouTube video about what could be Your New Light!

How is your Party Cup plant doing? Is it still alive? Did you harvest it already? If you want to stay in the running for the prize, you need to:
- Update your journal with a special Party Cup Update by December 1. Use #PartyCupUpdate so people can search for it.
- Tag @OCGrower76 and @Dr-Coco in your update..
- Include updated pictures of your party cup plant, and let us know some details of how your party cup is doing (or did).
- If already harvested, include pictures of fresh or dry nugs.
- If already dried, include dry weight of harvest.
For those still growing, this is not the end of the challenge, just the next step, so the judges can start organizing. Want to see how everyone’s party cups are doing? Go to the CocoForCannabis Forum, click the magnifying glass Search icon, and search for
#PartyCupUpdate.

Congratulations Choo!
This week’s winner of our PTGC Journal of the Week is Choo (@hawger03) from the Mainlines group. Choo has been around the CocoForCannabis grower community since September
2019, has four grow journals on the site, and has a Photo of the Week.

Mainlines leader @FurrySparkle says:
Morning Growmies, we are now 44 days(Nov 17) away from the NYGC.
Flip now or forever hold your peace to join in the next challenge. I can't
help but nominate this week a juggernaut of the Mainliners
forum,
Choo (@hawger03). They started out very strong
with many seeds germing quickly and doing daily updates. Dealing with a few hurdles of their own, like setup problems that led to a hermie shock. Now on track for a very lush looking Harvest. Still with near daily updates!
Happy Growing Choo, and I look forward to the NYGC with you. Grower Love all!
|
Choo will, of course, be getting one of @CelticCross’s excellent pieces of glass as a trophy. Be sure to check out CelticCross’s work on Instagram, where he posts as @riverratglass.
And keep your grow journal updated, so you too could win your own piece of PTGC JotW history!

Dr Coco's Tip of
the Week
Hey Growmies!
It is getting on towards harvest time. Seems everyday now another PTGC journal is marked for completion – but I know myself and many others still have plants growing and it is getting time to make some decisions.
Like when to go to ripen nutes, when to flush (if you flush), and of course when to harvest. I really should get all this together into some articles, but here are a few tips.
At the end of the grow there are two very common nutrient questions: When to start the ripen blend and when to start the flush. Of course, the answers really depend on when you plan to harvest. While we don’t yet
have a complete harvest section on CocoforCannabis yet, Dr Photon does have a great resource that I recommend you check out as we approach the harvest window:
“Reading Trichomes as a Harvesting Guide”
Personally, I like to harvest most strains when they start really showing their translucent amber trichomes, but before many go full amber. However, that really depends. On the Blueberry Plant I am growing I will
harvest with a few full amber trichomes, but with my Shining Silver Haze I will be happy when they all get really cloudy. That is just my experience with the strains. It can be tough to gauge timing on your first grows, but it is never totally precise anyway – so cut yourself some slack.
I flush quick, in only 4 days. So, I am usually happy to wait until the plant looks ready to chop before I start the flush. Moving on to the Ripen blend is a bit of a trickier thing to
time.
If a plant needs more time, I will keep her on the Late bloom blend – that is better than keeping them longer on Ripen. If you are running late, you can move through the Ripen stage in a few days. And if you move
to Ripen too soon, it is not the end of the world – just keep them there until it is time to flush.
Congrats on making it this far – Here’s to a great Harvest!
Grower Love,
MJ
