As you embark on a new year I encourage you to prioritize your mental health.
We've all lived through the past few years and are very aware of all the crazy things happening in the world.
That is going to continue so what do we do?
How do we keep our sanity during turbulent times?
We priorite our own mental health.
Noone is going to do this for us. Our self-care is up to us.
Here is one big way you can prioritize you.
Eliminate one thing that doesn't make you happy.
Is it the daily news? News can be informing but it also can be full of a lot of messages promoting fear. Why? Fear sells. Fear and drama keep people coming back for more.
It may be great for the broadcasters but is it good for you? Fear raises stress levels, encourages mass pyschosis and always has an agenda behind it. Pick and choose the content and messages coming at you. Check in and see how you feel after watching the news. If you can feel a difference in your stress levels, take a break.
Dislike cleaning? Some people love the ability to put on a podcast or music and clean. Others enjoy the soothing feeling of the warm water while washing dishes, and others absolutely dispise cleaning their homes. It's time consuming and they'd rather be spending their time doing other things. If this is you, consider hiring help. Taking one thing off your list you really don't like doing can ease some stress.
Is your social media feed raising your blood pressure? Take social media breaks, heck take electronic breaks. Consider all the information pouring into your brain all day long. Giving yourself a hiatus once in awhile can calm your brain down and unplug you from the chaos.
You can also snooze friends, unfollow people and pick and choose what you want to see in your newsfeed. Is the popular censor filled platforms getting on your nerves?
Consider checking out a new platform. Two new ones i'm enjoying are Saged and UNIFYD.
Be sure to take time to recharge and replenish. Life is about the journey, not racing to the ending. There really is wisdom in the old saying that reminds us to take time to smell the flowers.
To give you more self care ideas I'm attaching my self care guide to this email. No need to sign up for anything. You are already on my list so it's a gift from me to you.
