Even if you've already submitted comments to the PUC you can do so again. There is no limit. More is better!
We need new people too. There's still time! The docket remains open, which is a good sign...
We must keep up the pressure!
And do it now, please, as the comments window may close at any time.

"Advanced" meters are a massive liability. There is not an insurance company on the planet that will insure against wireless radiation health or environmental effects. Swiss RE, the second largest insurance provider in the world, lists "unforeseen consequences of electromagnetic fields" as the highest risk category and wireless devices are now excluded (i.e., not insured) across markets. Why would you want to take on
this liability and what are you going to do to insure the health and safety of those with "advanced" meters?
"Advanced" meters emit high levels of microwave radiation every few seconds. "Smart" meters have been shown to emit between 5000 to 190,000 pulses/day. These pulses occur randomly every few seconds throughout the day and night. There is evidence this unpredictable pulsation makes smart meters more toxic than cell phones or Wi-Fi, which are toxic themselves but emit more steady signals. It’s like the difference between white noise versus
erratic loud blasts. Hawaiian Electric says "energy use data can be collected in 15-minute intervals" but in reality the meters emit extreme high levels of radiation every few seconds, as this video of a Hawaiian Electric "smart" meter on Maui shows: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXixMrlPkUo
"Advanced" meters are a public health hazard. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared wireless radiation, such as that emitted by "advanced" meters, a Class 2-B carcinogen, in the same category as car exhaust, lead and chloroform. What are you going to do to insure the health and safety of those with "advanced" meters? https://www.takebackyourpower.net/category/health/
"Advanced" meters will not make for faster grid restoration. In the BRIDGE 2015 Outage & Restoration Management Survey Results Summary, over 20,000 utility employees – executives, managers and engineers – from 90 utilities across North America were surveyed. 81% of the surveyed utilities had installed “smart” meters, but only 16% use “smart” meters as their primary source of power failure alerts. Customer calls come first.
Well before “smart” meters – utilities rely on SCADA systems for outage alerts. SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition. It is technology employed by utilities for decades and does not involve metering but operates at the transformer and substation level. HEI should not install expensive "advanced" meters when they are unnecessary for grid restoration.
"Advanced" meters violate privacy. “With "smart" meters, police will have access to data that might be used to track residents’ daily lives and routines inside their homes, including their eating, sleeping and showering habits, what appliances they use and when, and whether they prefer the television to the treadmill, among a host of other details” according to a US Congressional Research Report. Our detailed energy use information will likely
be sold to third-party vendors to market products or track our activities. This is already being done in some mainland jurisdictions and generates a substantial new revenue stream for the utility. T he Hawaii Civil Liberties Union has expressed concerns about 4th Amendment rights violations posed by "advanced" meters. https://www.takebackyourpower.net/category/in-home-surveillance/
"Advanced" meters make Hawaii’s electrical grid vulnerable to cyber attack. Cybercrime is a huge problem and “secure” systems, from large corporations to governments and the US military, get hacked into frequently. Making Hawaii’s grid wireless threatens energy security, as one rogue individual could take down the entire power grid. https://www.takebackyourpower.net/category/grid-vulnerability/
Wireless networks, which "smart" meters require, are energy hogs. Our streets and neighborhoods will be littered with wireless network boxes and hubs. Advanced meters are not clean, not green, not sustainable. Energy consumption of wireless networks are incompatible with Hawaii's energy goals. Optical fiber is the most energy efficient and safe. https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/5783987
The FCC is not protecting us. Although the meters may meet FCC guidelines, such guidelines were established decades ago, before the proliferation of wireless devices, and the guidelines were not designed to protect us from long-term exposure to non-thermal levels of microwave radiation emitted by smart meters. People are becoming ill and authorities are speaking out but there is a lag in policy change (think tobacco industry). That's
why the FCC currently has multiple lawsuits filed against it. The agency has been captured by the wireless industry. No one is protecting us! Please protect us! https://citizensfor5gawareness.org/2021/02/24/devra-davis-challenges-the-fcc-for-their-antiquated-safety-standards-for-wireless-devices
